Coraline Graphic Novel
Coraline Graphic Novel | Neil Gaiman
40 posts | 62 read | 27 to read
When Coraline steps through a door in her family's new house, she finds another house, strangely similar to her own (only better). At first, things seem marvelous. The food is better than at home, and the toy box is filled with fluttering wind-up angels and dinosaur skulls that crawl and rattle their teeth. But there's another mother there and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go. Coraline will have to fight with all her wit and all the tools she can find if she is to save herself and return to her ordinary life. This beloved tale has now become a visual feast. Acclaimed artist P. Craig Russell brings Neil Gaiman's enchanting nationally bestselling children's book Coraline to new life in this gorgeously illustrated graphic novel adaptation.

5/5 🌟
I really like the creepy and chilling adventures of Coraline. It was really good. I like how the author was slidding important messages in the story, for kids to realise that it is not always good to have everything you want, to be brave, to be courageous and to appreciate your family.
The illustrations were really good.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I usually don‘t like reading books for stories that I already know, but this was not the case with Coraline. The art of the novel was so vastly different than that of the film that it was almost a totally different story but not at the same time! #graphicnovel

I remember the original illustrated version of this from when it first came out. It seems strange to me to do a graphic novel retelling of what was essentially already a graphic novel. The artwork and formatting in this version are much more conventional for the genre - everything‘s in full color, and looks very flat, and Coralline‘s character is drawn so she looks older. All in all I found this fun, but it doesn‘t hold a candle to the original.

Day is almost gone. I still have one graphic novel to read and I'm in the middle of a book but no way I will finish it for this BookTube-A Thon that will be over at midnight. This one cover the challenge of book with movie adaptation but I will re-watch the movie later. Wow this graphic novel is darker in comparison with the movie as far as I remember. I liked the story. Great illustration. You know what the story is about.3.4⭐️👍

Some quiet Sunday morning reading. Just me, book and coffee. Finally getting into my pile of graphic novels. I read this book before but I am looking forward to the graphic novel. I also love the movie.

CocoReads I found both the book and movie to be terrifying. But being me, I loved every bit of them. 2y
Craftylikefox @CocoReads the terrifying other mother with her button eyes definitely makes me shudder! Have you read The Ocean at the End of the Lane? 2y
CocoReads No , the only Gaiman I‘ve read other than Coraline is TheGraveyard Book (which I loved) and Anansi Boys, which I didn‘t get. 2y

Craftylikefox @CocoReads yeah Anansi Boys was one I think I will have to go back and read. I love the Graveyard book 🖤 maybe The Ocean at the End of the Lane will be my postal tea pick. 2y
CocoReads That would be a good choice. I think I‘m going with Dark of the Moon by John Sandford. 2y
Craftylikefox @CocoReads great! I can‘t wait to read it :) 2y

Help!! So all you guys' post have wanting to step out of my comfort zone and read some graphic novels... problem being, I have no clue where to start. Preferably something easy to follow with an awesome storyline & brilliant illustrations. Coraline popped up when I started to type "graphic novel" in for a tagged book. I loved the movie but don't know much about the book... is it a good place to start? If so, I'll have to see if I can hunt it down

ValkyrieAndHerBooks I love this book, and I‘m interested in reading the graphic novel! I haven‘t read many, but a recommendation I get often, and am excited to read someday soon is 2y
collegecatlady I would recommend 2y

collegecatlady And this one if you like stories with weird premises 2y
collegecatlady Once you get more into graphic novels, the tagged book begins an amazing series that‘s also by Neil Gaiman but may be more complex than the other suggestions I‘ve given 2y
SamHeartCoffee Love Coraline!! 💜 2y
Avanders I'm not a big graphic novel person, so I can't make *other* recommendations, but I loved Coraline in every format ☺️ 2y

I very much enjoyed the graphic novelization of this book. I realize that the movie version really did a good job of staying with much of what happened in the book. I am now strongly considering Coraline as a contender for my Halloween costume this year.

Bookzombie I love that cross-stitch! 2y

1. Chocolate is life!
2. Coloured edges. Unnecessary distractions are distracting. Lol
3. Stand Alone. I rarely get into series. If I do takes me forever and a day to finish. 😂
4. Wonderland. Feels like to much of a boys club in Neverland.
5. Librarian! In the next year or so I'm hoping to go into library tech! ❤

I've loved Gaiman's novel for years, and this #graphicnovel #adaptation was a great take on the story. The art style recreated the strange, dark elements of the novel well. The writing pulls narration from the book where necessary but doesn't over saturate the book with it. Overall, I really enjoyed this adaptation. While it didn't take chances like the film did, it accurately retold the story.

I enjoyed the graphic novel of 'Coraline' from
start to finish, the illustrations are great to look at and the Other Mother looks scarier which I enjoyed.

'Coraline' is a wonderful story, there are some changes in the graphic novel (I recognised some of the lines from the film adaptation), the changes do not take anything away from the story.

I will definitely read this story again and again. Highly recommended.

Very realistic style. Loved the reference to popular children's / young adult reads; it felt like it REALLY set Coraline in today. I'm partial to the quirky blue-haired movie Coraline, but I still loved this adaptation!
