Looking for Me: A Novel | Beth Hoffman
20 posts | 28 read | 21 to read
A Southern novel of family and antiques from the bestselling author of the beloved Saving CeeCee HoneycuttBeth Hoffmans bestselling debut, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt, won admirers and acclaim with its heartwarming story and cast of unforgettable characters. Now her unique flair for evocative settings and richly drawn Southern personalities shines in her compelling new novel, Looking for Me.Teddi Overman found her lifes passion for furniture in a broken-down chair left on the side of the road in rural Kentucky. She learns to turn other peoples castoffs into beautifully restored antiques, and eventually finds a way to open her own shop in Charleston. There, Teddi builds a life for herself as unexpected and quirky as the customers who visit her shop. Though Teddi is surrounded by remarkable friends and finds love in the most surprising way, nothing can alleviate the haunting uncertainty shes felt in the years since her brother Joshs mysterious disappearance. When signs emerge that Josh might still be alive, Teddi is drawn home to Kentucky. Its a journey that could help her come to terms with her shattered familyand to find herself at last. But first she must decide what to let go of and what to keep.Looking for Me brilliantly melds together themes of family, hope, loss, and a mature once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. The result is a tremendously moving story that is destined to make bestselling author Beth Hoffman a novelist to whom readers will return again and again as they have with Adriana Trigiani, Fannie Flagg, and Joshilyn Jackson.

Today‘s Prompt: CHAIR ON THE COVER

LOOKING FOR ME is about the relationship between family members and how tragedies can tear them apart and also about talents that we shouldn't waste. If you are an antique buff, you will be thrilled.

MicheleinPhilly Oh my gosh, YES. It has been absolutely dreadful here all week. Everything is soggy and musty and GROSS. 5y
LeafingThroughLife @MicheleinPhilly I‘m leaving on vacation to Seattle next week, and I keep joking that I have to go there to get some sun! 🤣 I‘m definitely not into PA‘s summer monsoon trend. 🤦‍♀️ 5y

TEARS ON MY PILLOW

“LOOKING FOR ME is another spectacular read by Beth Hoffman. The book faces family issues, friendships, dreams, unearthed talents, tragedies, regret, and heartbreak, but also has wonderful lessons. You will need a kleenex as you follow Teddie Overman from her childhood to adulthood.

vkois88 Sounds like a devastatingly beautiful book 6y

Bitsy and I dug up shrubs and saplings this morning. Well, I shoveled - she chased rabbits until I finally made her go inside. My neighbor has this huge vegetable garden and now I have a huge rabbit population in my backyard. They.Are.Everywhere. I‘m going to read and ignore the fact that a million rabbits have set up shop in my yard. They‘re probably procreating right now.

The reviews on Litsy for this book have all been positive.

DGRachel Fun for Bitsy!! 6y
AlaMich But, but...bunnies!! They‘re so cute!! 6y
DebinHawaii By the time you finish this book there will be two million rabbits out there! 🐰🐇🐇🐇🤣🐇🐰🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐰 6y

Bostonmomx2 I have such a love/dislike relationship with our wild bunny population here. They are redonkulously adorbs but will eat the plants and poop EVERYWHERE and my dogs eat it. All day. And get fat. 🐇 6y
Bostonmomx2 @DebinHawaii girl you ain‘t lyin!!! 6y
BarbaraBB @DebinHawaii 😂😂. I am sorry @LauraBeth , I feel for you and those rabbits would drive me mad but I really had to LOL after reading Deb‘s reaction 😀 6y
LauraBeth @DGRachel those rabbits outsmart her! 😹 6y
LauraBeth @AlaMich these bunnies are the cutest! 💕🐰 6y
LauraBeth @DebinHawaii nooooooooooooooo! You‘re probably right...😹 6y
Melissa_J We have lots of rabbits in our backyard, too. Ellie chases them, unsuccessfully, but she enjoys their droppings 🤣 6y
LauraBeth @Bostonmomx2 I know what you mean. They‘re adorably cute but there is a lot of rabbit poop! 6y
LauraBeth @BarbaraBB I think @DebinHawaii is accurate in her prediction! 😂 6y
LauraBeth @Melissa_J 😂😂I didn‘t know those rabbit droppings were such a delicacy! 6y

LauraBeth @LauraBrook Listen - I was THIS close to sending a Litsy search party for you!! 😂 Glad you‘re back! 6y
LauraBrook @LauraBeth 💗💗💗💗💗 6y
Bklover 🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇. Bunnies!! They have their babies in ridiculously shallow little nests in my back yard and I live in fear and dread of slaughtering rabbit families with my lawn mower. 6y
LauraBrook Happy birthday, my Litsy Sister! Hope you get all the books you want, and a whole day free to read as you please. Here‘s to another year of excellent books and lots of laughs! 🎉❤️ 6y
LeahBergen Happy Birthday, darlin‘! You are a ray of sunshine in my Litsy life. 😘😘😘😘 6y

TODAY'S PROMPT: DREAMS

Beth Hoffman's books are always filled with sweet dreams.

We all have dreams...some are fulfilled, some are not.

Have you read Beth Hoffman‘s books? Her other book is: SAVING CEECEE HONEYCUTT. Loved that book too.

There was so much I liked about this book--the renovating of old furniture, helping wild animals, the mystery of the brother. It all comes together nicely at the end and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. My only (tiny) complaint is that the prose could have been tightened up a bit. Otherwise, a great read!

catebutler Ooh! I think I'll have to check this out. I really like the premise. 7y

Finished Hoffman, #LitsyAtoZ book #2. Now maybe The Grownup & Eichmann in Jerusalem in tandem?
#booksandcoffee #readintoearlymorning @BookishMarginalia

Help Question: Notice people are tagging books ( in blue) I cannot figure out how to do that- probably simple but can't find how to do it. Littens, please help! #tagbooks

Foxyfictionista Next to the 'SEND' button when you're writing a post, there's a skull and cross bones to indicate spoilers. To the left of that is a little flag that lets you tag books. 7y
LisaJo I find I can only tag books in a comment. Not in my original post. So when I need to tag a book on a post, I go back to make a comment and tag that book or a different book. 7y
kspenmoll @Foxyfictionista @LisaJo Thx so much! Will try next post- 😍📚 (edited) 7y

Foxyfictionista @kspenmoll @LisaJo Actually, I was wrong. What I said applies only to comments. To tag a book in a blurb, review, or quote there's a link to 'tag a book' at the very top of the page. ☺️ 7y
kspenmoll @Foxyfictionista No prob. I will try all suggestions till I get it right!!!! Thx!!!! 😃 7y

ptkpepe98 It is...although looking at the address, I would have expected snow in CT at this time of the year. 7y
kspenmoll @ptkpepe98 so far we are having an unusually snowless winter. 2 small storms, most snow about 5 inches. Later last week temps got in the high 40-50- snow melted. 🙁 (edited) 7y

Sometime in the dollar tree you can find gems. This was a total cover buy. Yes I am familiar with the author. And it was a dollar so hey why not. Oh and while I was looking threw the books I made a new book friend and we exchanged numbers. I'm normally not the person to do that. But she message me and we started chatting. You never know where you can make a new bookish friend

Loved the story and the audible version was read by Jenna Lamia who is one of my favorite narrators. Some really heartfelt story lines with some good research on antique restoration and wildlife/animal rescue.
