Camelot
Camelot: The epic new novel from the author of Lancelot | Giles Kristian
3 posts | 2 read | 1 reading | 9 to read
'So beautiful, so haunting . . . bitingly real . . . Giles has given us a vital, glorious story: rich, rewarding, and utterly revealing of our times' Manda Scott Following his acclaimed Sunday Times bestseller, Lancelot, Giles Kristian's new novel returns us to the realms of Arthurian legend . . . Britain is a land riven by anarchy, slaughter, famine, filth and darkness. Its armies are destroyed, its heroes dead, or missing. Arthur and Lancelot fell in the last great battle and Merlin has not been seen these past ten years. Now, the Saxons are gathering again, their warbands stalk the land, their king seeks dominion. As for the lords and kings of Britain, they look only to their own survival and will not unite as they once did under Arthur and his legendary sword Excalibur. But in an isolated monastery in the marshes of Avalon, a novice of the order is preparing to take his vows when the life he has known is suddenly turned upside down in a welter of blood. Two strangers - the wild-spirited, Saxon-killing Iselle and the ageing warrior Gawain - will pluck the young man from the wreckage of his simple existence. Together, they will seek the last druid and the cauldron of a god. And the young man must come to terms with his legacy and fate as the son of the most celebrated yet most infamous of Arthur's warriors: Lancelot. For this is the story of Galahad, Lancelots son the reluctant warrior who dared to keep the dream of Camelot alive . . . Acclaim for Lancelot: 'A masterpiece.' Conn Iggulden 'Stands head and shoulders above the rest.' Manda Scott 'Glorious. Tragic. Lyrical. Totally gripping.' Ben Kane 'A gorgeous, rich retelling.' The Times 'An extraordinary writer . . . an exceptional book.' Dr Janina Ramirez

Pickpick

I was obsessed with Arthur tales for a long time. Then haven‘t read much of them recently. This is the second by this author that I‘ve really enjoyed though. The atmosphere was great, you really felt broken Britain here (I‘m not making any current political references) and lost lives. This one is Galahad‘s story and the author adds some fantastic bits to well known myths 👍🏻 a mighty good read.

Sweetkokoro I love Arthurian tales, so I just got Lancelot last month (still need to read it though) and now knowing this follow up is Galahad‘s tale I will be hunting it down to own ASAP. 4y
TrishB @Sweetkokoro I hope you enjoy them 😁 I was that obsessed that my daughters middle name is Avalon. 4y
Sweetkokoro Ah that‘s so adorable I love it. I fought tooth and nail with my ex to name our daughter Guinevere and he refused. To this day I am still angry haha. If I ever have another I will prevail! 4y

MicheleinPhilly I told my local indie that I will order from them online and then they can space them throughout the store and I will come pick them up in a full SOCO suit. 😂 I need my bookshop visits back. 4y
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly I picked some from my local indie last night. Not the same as being in the shop but helped a bit! 4y
