"Everyone in Athena, Mississippi, knows Charlie Harris, the librarian with a rescued Maine coon cat named Diesel. He s returned to his hometown to immerse himself in books, but a celebrated author s visit draws an unruly swarm of fanatic mystery buffs and one devious killer." It s National Library Week, and the Athena Public Library is planning an exhibit to honor the centenary of famous novelist Electra Barnes Cartwright creator of the beloved Veronica Thane series. Charlie has a soft spot for Cartwright s girl detective stories (not to mention an extensive collection of her books!). When the author agrees to make a rare public appearance, the news of her whereabouts goes viral overnight, and series devotees and book collectors converge on Athena. After all, it s rumored that Cartwright penned Veronica Thane stories that remain under wraps, and one rabid fan will stop at nothing not even murder to get hold of the rare books "

I greatly enjoy this cozy mystery series featuring Charlie the librarian and his cat Diesel. This series entry features a children‘s author whose books are very similar to Nancy Drew (perfect #NancyDrewBR tie in). Book collecting and the antics of obsessed collectors is comically explored. And, of course, murder happens. Fast read with entertaining characters.

It's a mystery so we know somebody is going to get murdered but as usual the murder doesn't happen till about 1/3 of the way through the book and this time the murderee doesn't have a big flashing victim sign flashing over their head when they are first introduced as is usually the case. Watching the antics of the superfans and reading the parody novel within the novel made this the funniest so far in the series.

I lost this library book under a chair for a while. Diving back in with the event to finish and return it quickly. I have love for cozy mysteries- they‘re great when I need to palate cleanse.

Day 24 #AprilBookShowers #shelfie Yeah, I know this is totally cheating but it's Monday, I'm lazy, & I don't feel any of my bookshelves are looking particularly photogenic & 'shelfie-worthy' at the moment. This is a section of the New Fiction shelves at my library as I stopped on the way home to return a book. Did I make it out without any books added to the #TBR stacks?😬 Well, you will just have to wait and see...📚📚📚🐭🧀#mouseinacheesefactory

I can't get the silly Goodreads app to do The My Year in Books thingy on my phone. Anyone know how to do that?

Here's a pic from my laptop instead. I tagged the first book I read in 2016, which was a cosy mystery with a cat and a library.

Alicia I logged in on my phone and switched to the Desktop site if that helps! 7y
Reviewsbylola I had to pull it up on safari instead of the app. 7y

megnews I can't either. Not even sure where to find it. 7y
Laura317 @Libby1 I had to take a photo of my monitor as well. #clueless 7y
DogMomIrene I don't think this feature works in the app. If you wanted a picture of the infographic, you could take a screenshot. On a Mac, hit , , and all at the same time. You'll get a "target" icon that you can drag and drop over the infographic. When you drop the icon, you'll make a screenshot of that area as a .png file, which you can edit like a photo you took with an iPhone or iPad. I take screenshots all the time??? 7y
MargaretPinardAuthor I was just annoyed at discovering this lack of mobile capability too! Bah. More curmudgeonly every year... 7y
Libby1 Thanks, @Alicia , @Reviewsbylola , @MrBook, @OrangeMooseReads , @saresmoore , @LauraBeth , @megnews , @Laura317 , and @MargaretPinardAuthor for commiserating or liking Little Dorrit. 😊. Thanks @ocdIrene for the info! I'll keep it for reference. 👍 7y

This is my favorite bookstore in Romania, Bucharest. If you ever get the chance to visit Bucharest you must check out the Library Carturesti! You can sit in comfortable chairs, enjoy a cup of coffee/tea and read a book 😍

I'm not well prepared for today's challenge #librarylove My local library is closed today and instead of the library I'm sharing photos of my local used book store and not indie book store.
