“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.“

Remembering Oscar Wilde on his birthday.

Spent a bitterly cold winter holed up in a cabin in Bulgaria reading the Collected Works of Oscar Wilde and posting a daily quote on my MySpace page (to give you an idea how long ago this was 😄). Man, I wish I had that list back!

The books that the world calls immoral, are books that show the world its own shame.

Such an interesting person, might be adding a biography of his to my pile!

BookDragonNotWorm I haven't read all his work, but thought The Portrait Of Dorian Gray was innovative genius!!! 4y

I spent the weekend camping at the Hillside Music Festival in Guelph. This is a bandana from the festival with an Oscar Wilde quote on it. Not a lot of reading happened this weekend!

🎵Just a few of my favorite things 🎶

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken" is attributed to Oscar Wilde... however, according to QuoteInvestigator.com this cannot be proven.

?But this one is Wilde's:
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are some one else‘s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." (Ouch)-me

Either quote seems a perfect call out for #BeYourself in #JuneTunz ❤️

OSChamberlain I have an identical book to your "Works of Wilde" but mine is "Works of Longfellow!" Same exact spine though. 7y
Jess_Read_This @OSChamberlain I love these editions.. their spines are gorgeous. I picked mine up at a library sale and another book lover with more nimble fingers scooped up the rest of the ones that were part of this set. I'm still a tad bitter over it... 😉 7y
batsy Ouch indeed! And far too accurate 😐 7y
Jess_Read_This @batsy Yeah... even after I reread that quote a few times the sting didn't go away. 7y
