In 1995, Marie Gesto disappeared after walking out of a supermarket in Hollywood. Harry Bosch worked the case but couldn't crack it, and the 22-year-old woman never turned up, dead or alive. Now Bosch is in the Open-Unsolved Unit, where he still keeps the Gesto file on his desk, when he gets a call from the DA. A man accused of two heinous killings is willing to come clean about several other murders, including the killing of Marie Gesto. Bosch must now take Raynard Waits's confession and get close to the man he has sought - and hated - for eleven years. But when Bosch learns that he and his partner missed a clue back in 1995 that could have led them to Gesto's killer - and that would have stopped nine murders that followed - he begins to crack. Michael Connelly's suspenseful new novel pits the detective People magazine calls "one of the most complex crime fighters around" against one of the most sadistic killers he has ever confronted. It confirms that Michael Connelly "is the best writer of suspense fiction working today" (Richmond Times-Dispatch).

Mehso-so

I enjoyed this one despite its getting a little tedious in the twists and turns. Bosch is annoyingly decisive in this one, which I guess is part of the point, but it's also annoying.

Now my plan is to take a break from Bosch for October while I focus on other scary reads (he fits the theme for #TeamSlaughter I've just been overdoing it a little and want to try out some other authors for a change of pace).

Time and time again Connelly proves himself to be a damn good writer. And now I'm free and clear to start the TV show without spoilers so yippee! 😆

As expected there is a big twist at the end of the book. Fast moving. Enjoyable

Book #12 in the Harry Bosch series. Man, I feel for Harry in this one. He goes on an emotional rollercoaster with everything that goes on in this cold case. I‘m curious as to how he comes through the fallout in the next book.

I had wondered when the first season of the Amazon adaptation would be covered in the books! The twelfth book in the Bosch series holds the main plot for that initial season- and I can see why they picked it! This was an exciting listen and one that I thoroughly enjoyed #AudioColoring to!!

#LyricalApril #day24 #AmericanBoy There's not many more American than L.A born & bred boy, Harry Heironymus Bosch.Former tunnel Rat during the Vietnam War, now Detective in the L.A Robbery/Homocide division. Living in a stilt frame house in the Hollywood Hills, his mission is to bring closure to as many victims families as he can, knowing that he'll probably not solve his own mothers. Not a favourite with his bosses, he's a brilliant investigator.

julesG I love this series. And by series I am referring to the novels. The TV series is not bad, but -let's say it together- the book is better. 😉 6y
Cinfhen Sorry ladies @julesG @Lizpixie im not familiar with the series 😩 6y
Lizpixie @Cinfhen you need to read this series! Especially the first ten books, it's like L.A packaged on paper. They're fantastic👍🇺🇸🌁 6y

#readjanuary #day15 #publishedinthe2000s Michael Connelly's books are the epitome of the 2000s. This was when his writing was at it's peak, the books he wrote during this period are some of his best Bosch novels. Police procedurals were at their most popular in the 2000s I think, you have not just Connelly but also Cornwall, Deaver, George & just starting were Fairstein, Gerritsen & Slaughter. Some great crime writers there.

hlgreenfield I love the Bosch novels and the earlier ones were so good. They are probably my favourite American crime novels! Love Harry Bosch as a character! 6y
minkyb Great observation @Lizpixie You are so much more than a pretty library! 😜 6y
Lizpixie Why, thank you @minkyb I think you're pretty awesome too!😘 6y

My detective read for the #24in48 #readathon and my reading companions. Although they prefer when I'm in the beanbag chair so they can join me. @Litsy
