I‘ve read this book before, but it‘s so good! I highly recommend it.

Loved it!!!! I could‘ve finished it yesterday if I hadn‘t been so distracted. Riley‘s story had just the right amount of humor and romance to deal with the stuff going on in the book. 5🌟

I thought this was going to be a great read, really educate myself on what it means to be gender fluid. It was very difficult to understand, to relate. I was so confused. With my current eye issues, I figured I would rather spend my time reading books I enjoy and can follow along with rather than drag myself through a book I can‘t understand. Maybe I‘ll try again when my eye issues have been resolved.

I appreciate the effort the author put into researching genderfluidity and lgbt issues, but the actual plot and characters come off as framing devices for a novel length essay. Points for trying but I think there's plenty of room for better representation of genderfluidity in contemporary fiction.

Riley... neither a girl or boy creates an anonymous blog for the LGBT+ community in hopes of others relating to his/her (Riley‘s ) stories. Riley undergoes challenges while transferring to a new school and her/his father is the mayor. While it took Riley a long while to come out the closet it she/he stands down and helps others online going through the same situation. In the end this influences her/him to come out. Symptoms of being human.

I feel like lots of the story was predictable, until it wasn‘t. It was realistic but not; I highly doubt Riley‘s outing would have resulted in more people coming out at school, but really, we‘re still following the Traumatize Your Queers trope? And is the author queer himself or is this another book by cis het people telling the rest of us how to Queer Better?

However, I am taking a significant leap: I‘m Kris and my pronouns are they/them.

I was totally indulgent today and other than emptying the dishwasher I‘ve done nothing but read. Starting my second book of the day.

Loved it! I liked how it‘s never revealed what gender Riley is assigned at birth, because it‘s not what‘s important. This book tackles real-life problems we have today, and it does it well. One small thing I disliked, was that some foreshadowing was very obvious.

LIKES: 1) the answer to what lies between Riley‘s legs... perfect. 2) great characters, everyone feels like a complete person even though we only see into Riley‘s head. 3) the ending is only the beginning DISLIKES: 1) all the advice is good, no mistakes on that were made by Riley which felt unreal 2) gender IS fluid, but very binary, never mix and match. #gender #lgbtqia+ #represent #ya4life

This book. 💕 Rylie‘s story begins with the question: boy or girl. The answer: both. As a gender fluid teen, Rylie is desperate to fit in or, better yet, go unnoticed. When that doesn‘t happen, it is a struggle to keep everything bottled up inside. I loved this story—it is funny, real, heartbreaking, and even though I don‘t identify with Rylie‘s gender identity, I identified with Rylie‘s human experience.

I liked the story. I always like reading stories about gender fluid people, because it gives me a little more perspective about what that‘s like. I just don‘t feel like I liked it nearly enough to give it a higher rating, but I thought it was pretty good.

So I almost didn't read/finish this one. It is for teenagers and reads that way often especially in the beginning but I wanted to read this first book I've found with a genderfluid character and I'm so glad I did.

It's hard and its...impactful. I cried a lot as I read. The why will probably keep me thinking for a while. I do recommend it even if you're not a teen, but definitely if you're genderfluid of any age.

This one was already on my radar but it's now going to the top of my list! Riley starts off scared. Starting a new school and obviously not fitting in. But through out the book she gets more and more brave, from starting her anonymous blog to speaking in front of an entire room full of people. Interesting novel about a gender fluid teen who is struggling to get through high school while dealing with the rigid and binary gender roles and expectations of most people. Through Riley's blog posts and experiences, the reader becomes well-informed about this specific character's experience as a gender fluid person. The story itself could have been better, but overall a good story.

I read this for book club. Between a pick and so-so. I think it was well-written, but I would rather read a book by someone who is genderfluid. It's probably a good introduction for people to different terminologies, but it follows some of the same tropes cis people use when writing non-cis stories. Definitely a good representation of teenagers. Also, I had to keep in mind that this is a YA book.

Read this book in anticipation of hearing the author and meeting him for Tucson Festival of Books. This was an eye opening story about a gender fluid teenager struggling with being a teen and not being accepted for who they are. I loved the characters, they were all so realistic and wonderful. I loved how the author never mentioned the gender the main character was assigned at birth either. The entire book was so effective and touching. Love!

Riley is a sixteen year old teenager who has identified them self as gender fluid and is encouraged to start an anonymous blog.

I cannot seem to find the right words to review this but this book explores an important issue and after reading this I do feel more educated about what it means to be gender fluid but I just wasn't a fan of the writing style and I didn't feel really attached to the characters and their problems.

Just finished and this book is amazing. I love how the author never reveille Riley's birth gender. The story gives an fantastic look into the head of a gender fluid. You don't need to could identify you with Riley even if you are just on the look after a new lovely book you should totally read symptoms of being human.

This book is one of the best LGBTQ books currently out. Gender fluidity is rarely talked about and this book portrays it so well. It also has an amazing plot. One of my favorite parts of the mechanics of the book is that Riley always referred to as "they" and think that's genius because if the author had said what gender they were born as, the audience would see them as a boy or girl, rather than an androgynous person. I highly recommend this book
