It‘s #nationalreadabookday and I just heard the sad news that Peter Straub has passed away.
So I‘ll take today to recommend his Talisman books with Stephen King, and his Blue Rose Trilogy. Pick up any book by Straub if you‘ve never read him - he‘s a treasure - and let him live on through the works he‘s left behind.

DGRachel This makes me sad. Koko was one of the first adult horror novels I read. 2y
Sweettartlaura @DGRachel me too 😢. He wasn‘t as prolific as King (who is? 🤷🏻‍♀️), but every book was a winner. 2y
Sweettartlaura @DGRachel me, too 😢 2y
kelli7990 I‘ve never read any of his books. 2y
DivineDiana I have not read any of his books yet. Thank you for the recommendations. I will try to read one to honor his passing. 2y

I spent most of my day reading today, and I finished this brilliant book. Initially I didn't understand the pacing, but once I figured that out I found it very well done. It was illuminating, and certainly also heartbreaking at times. This author sure knows how to tell a story. While this might be fiction, many of the events that it portrays certainly aren't. I will read more by this author. #nationalreadabookday

This was the feminist essay collection I didn‘t know I needed. Brittney writes casually but not humorously about her way to feminism as a Black woman. I found her stories to be interesting and her points to be thoughtful. She touched on being a fat feminist, and I would‘ve loved to read more about that. Perhaps in her next book. #audiobook #NationalReadABookDay

I didn‘t intend to finish this book today
but I just couldn‘t stop! What a charming, touching story about a subject I know very little about: foster care. I loved all of the characters & how their relationships evolved. Definitely some laugh-out-loud & swoon-worthy moments mixed in with the heart. A lovely antidote to all the misery in the world right now ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
