Read in May- another oldie in my tbr. I loved this book. I know it has been criticized about the polarized characters development, others say they are not realistic but still. The story is about all these wars and political conflicts in Afghanistan. The author will explain some history events, specifically the role of women, through the eyes of Mariam and Laila😢It is a heartbreaking story. I loved it and I‘m glad I read it. ❤️ ⬇️

Gissy Another novel that motivates to read more about these sad events in history. Even today, there is so much to do in many countries to be treated with respect and with equal rights.

#AsianReadathon YouTuber @WithCindy prompt- friendship In this novel there are various friendships relations. (Afghanistan)
Second and last book completed during #20in4 #Readathon @Andrew65

Read in May- Lena‘s sister, Desiree, was well know in social media and was found dead apparently due to an overdose. Lena didn‘t see her sister for the last 2 years but she is not convinced that her sister death was for this reason. The story is about Lena to try to find out what really happened to her sister, to discover how was her life for the last 2 years. Many family secrets will be revealed. But this is another novel where the death motive⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) was weak. However, I liked Lena, how the author described NY and Lena‘s life as a black woman, she can be so funny sometimes. I loved Aunt E who “her hearing has improved with age”😂Even though the mo was weak I‘m glad I read it.

#SisterBirthday another novel to celebrate my sister‘s birthday 🎉
First book during #20in4 #Readathon @Andrew65

My plans for the weekend changed, and I couldn't read for 20 hours. But I did find two books and got 60% through another. Maybe some month, I'll reach that elusive 20-hour mark. #20in4 #Readathon @Andrew65

Andrew65 That‘s excellent, well done and thanks for taking part. 👏👏👏🙌🥳🍾🥂 6d

30. International Jazz Day for #MayMontage

Most of Murakami's works have been influenced by music, most notably Classical and Jazz.
It's a widely known fact that music lover Murakami owned and ran a Jazz Bar in the 1970s.

Also checking in for last weekend's #20in4 #Readathon - which didn't add up to much timewise ⬇️

Yuki_Onna ... continued - My cold hindered me quite a bit from reading, I slept most of the time... 🤧😴
But I got a chunk of pages read of both of my current reads, so it went fine nevertheless.✌️

#AllThatIsMineICarryWithMe #WilliamLanday #20in4 #Readathon #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2023

November 1975, ten-year-old Miranda Larkin comes home from school to find her house eerily quiet. Her mother is missing. Nothing else is out of place. There is no sign of struggle. Her mom's pocketbook remains in the front hall, in its usual spot. So begins a mystery that will span a lifetime. What happened to Jane Larkin?

EadieB What happened to Jane Larkin? Investigators suspect Jane's husband. A criminal defense attorney, Dan Larkin would surely be an expert in outfoxing the police. But no evidence is found linking him to a crime, and the case fades from the public's memory, a simmering, unresolved riddle. Jane's three children--Alex, Jeff, and Miranda--are left to be raised by the man who may have murdered their mother. 7d
EadieB Two decades later, the remains of Jane Larkin are found. The investigation is awakened. The children, now grown, are forced to choose sides. With their father or against him? Guilty or innocent? And what happens if they are wrong? A tale about family--family secrets and vengeance, but also family love--All That Is Mine I Carry With Me masterfully grapples with a primal question: When does loyalty reach its limit? 7d
EadieB I have read Defending Jacob and was looking forward to reading a new book by William Landay. I was not disappointed and found his book to be very interesting. The characters were very believable and real. The plot was one that took me through the book quickly as I had to find out what happened to Jane Larkin. The ending was a twist that I did not see coming and I think you need to read this book and find out what happened to Joan. 7d

EadieB I am now looking forward to another book by Landay and hope I don't have to wait as long as I waited for this one. 7d
