Tackling the subject of how a simple checklist can help make complicated tasks more streamlined especially during a crisis.
An interesting read on how checklists have been implemented in the aviation industry and how the author has championed the use of checklists in the medicine.

Reconnecting with this today for #nfn2020. Reminding myself that complex things can be made easier with a checklist- not a list of every little action or task , but the most important, crucial things that will get the job done.

This was a required reading for a class paper. I found the stories to be well-written by an experienced person in health care that would be easy to follow for readers without experience. The message of the clear benefits of a checklist resounds in many fields and even in usage with daily tasks.

I found the stories great to listen to on audio. Makes me rethink a good checklist.

So much to think on...whether flying, secure in knowing the role of the checklist in the cockpit, when walking past a building & marvel at the communication planning that built trust & shared accountability to get it made safely or thinking about what it is in a complex situation that really needs the focus. Way more thought provoking than I anticipated. Written well, lean prose that gets you in deep quickly and accessibly.

Final day of the #bookshopcrawl weekend...visited 4 local bookshops with my bookclub pals.... we brave the rain and wind, but found a roaring pub fire to finish the afternoon off with! Note to self.... don‘t listen to a podcast that recommends cool books just prior to going on a #bookshopcrawl !🤣

This is a really interesting look at the checklist. It‘s not what I was thinking. It‘s much more of a business book. I found some things really interesting. It‘s an easy read, the stories used to illustrate things are interesting. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. #diverseauthor #librarybook

A fascinating nonfiction look at how essential check lists are in surgery and for pilots. I thought it was going to focus more on using check lists in every day life, so while it was interesting, I didn‘t love it. Side note, the number of errors (often fatal) in surgery is terrifying!

[Book 13 of 2018] I loved Gawande's other books and this did not disappoint. Fascinating how small things can make a huge impact. I enjoyed all the examples, from flying to hygiene to surgery.

I️ can‘t believe I️ waited so long to read this! I‘m starting to get in to #bujo and this book explains why and how listmaking works along with some cool real world examples. I️ can imagine taking some of the procedural suggestions back to my lesson planning. #teachersoflitsy

⭐⭐⭐⭐I guess now I can say that I am indeed a person who can enjoy a multi hour audio book about checklists. Found this very interesting, both for the examples and for the new perspective Gawande brought to the simple checklist.

I'll be spending most of August 31 travelling, so I will go ahead and declare my totals for August. Best book was the one I highlighted in my TBR pile at the beginning of the month. Gawande is the man!

I blame podcasts like Cortex from Relay.FM and Back To Work from 5by5 for my current and ongoing obsession with task managers and to do apps. I didn't actually think I would like it but it was fascinating to hear about different fields utilizing checklists to improve their productivity.

✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️ An excellent book. This has motivated me to review the checklists I use at work (I'm an editor) and make sure they are as effective as possible!

I'm enjoying this book so far.

Finally finished this today. Took me so long cuz it just wasn't as exciting as the rest of my TBR;) But I did find it interesting as he uncovered how important checklists can be, not only in medicine but aviation & construction as well. Those checklists can actually save lives. Don't know that this book is for everyone. But being a nurse, I was intrigued by a lot of his stories. 😊
