I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it. Some will be old, some will be new - don't judge me, I have a lot of books.

It‘s a celebration of the sad & beautiful moments that take you from childhood to being an adult. The adventure is captivating and the theme of institutional power unchecked resonates. Lyra uncovers mysteries around her while navigating her way towards being the adult her world needs.

🎧 Big Summer - done. Enjoyed this, though the ending was rushed.
🎧 Tuesdays with Morrie - done. #bookspin and a pleasant read.
🎧 The Library Book - starting today. #doublespin
📚 The Golden Compass - 77% done. Enjoying it, but taking so long to read.
📚 A Storm of Swords - 78% done. I'm picking this one back up (almost a year later) during the long car ride to my brother's graduation this week.
Lyra finds herself on an adventure to the north to discover what is dust.

Books in a series will be posted together, instead of individual posts for each.
We had started watching His Dark Materials on HBO Max and I remember watching the movie years ago. So I decided to read the books.
#TookeyToles does not care if I use her as a book rest while I read, as long as she can use my lap as her bed.😔🤦🏻♀️ cats these days...😆
I didn't read this as a kid and maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I had. Although I don't understand why this is considered a children's book...
It was a little too technical for me, the story felt very slow, too much of political banter and there were no funny moments in this book...
I have bigger expectations for Book Two ;) Now - watching it on screen 🎬
I still quite like this book even reading as an adult which is nice to learn. It is still just as dark as I remember but also like? More overtly religious. It‘s not that I remember it as less religious I just thought it was slightly more subtle and it is decidedly not.
Still baffles me that this book is considered 9-12 though
So I never finished this series and I wanted to before I watch the HBO series. This first book was just as good as I remembered. However, I can't say the same for the audiobook. It was a full cast and the woman doing Lyra's voice was like nails on a chalkboard. I almost bailed. I recommend the print version. Also, I'm counting this as a winter read due to the North Pole setting and the armored polar bears. 26 pts #WinterGames2020 #MerryReaders
I am somehow 28 and have never read or watched the adaptations of this series so I'm joining in a book club rear for it this month and then hoping to try the show this month once I'm on holidays.
I loved the audio version of this first book of the trilogy. While I‘d read it ages ago, listening to the cast was a delightful way to explore the story again. Like @Jas16 said, it was a lovely way to keep away from the news and was a balm to my nerves. Lyra is a wonderful heroine.
Less than 30 minutes to my highlight of 2020 series 2 of #HisDarkMaterials
I found it comforting to visit Lyra and friends again and can‘t wait to see where series 2 takes us.
The book was as good as I remembered and this time I noticed things I missed first time round when all that mattered was finding out what happened.
A friend of mine decided to read this series for the first time and I decided to join him since I have been meaning to reread the original trilogy before I begin on the newer books. So glad I did because this book is what has kept me sane this week and prevented me from breaking my phone with my constant updating of the news feeds. I love Lyra so much.
Anyone else excited for season 2 of His Dark Materials coming to the UK next weekend. Something to look forward to in the year that is 2020

4 ⭐ - I think I'd have enjoyed it more if I hadn't seen the TV show first.
