Time for some new books since I finished, for now, the #bookbuyingdiet
The Big Kahuna - I need to finish the last two books in the Fox & O'Hare series #FinishTheSeries
Rabbits - I've heard good and bad things about this, but it sounds like a real mind f@ck, and I like those kind of books.
The Misfit Soldier - A new author for me, but it's a standalone novel which is a plus.

#nevertoomanybooks #neverenoughshelves

BeeMagical Rabbits has been on my list for a long time!! Can‘t wait to hear how it is! 2y

The Water Knife | Paolo Bacigalupi

44/150 Wow!! So intense, brutal and graphic. I knew from reading The Windup Girl and Pump Six that this would be a very dark and tense read. Bacigalupi's world has no real heroes, only survivors. I recommend this, but if you're easily triggered by graphic violence, you might want to pass. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
10/10 #bookbuyingdiet (woo hoo!)

swynn Yay for Bacigalupi love! 2y
RamsFan1963 @swynn His books are such intense reading, I always feel bad for his characters since I know most either won't survive or will end up in worse shape than when they started. 2y

The Tritonian Ring | Lyon Sprague De Camp
post image
Pickpick

42/150 While this book is rather short, 212 pages, it's not short on action and adventures. Prince Vakar is on a quest to find the Tritonian Ring to protect his kingdom. Vakar starts out a little vain and foppish, but once the action starts, he quickly shifts to hero mode. There's sea battles, sword fights, terrible monsters, beautiful women (even a female satyr), magic and a bit of 50s style sex scenes. Continued in the comments ⬇️⬇️

RamsFan1963 Recommended for people who want a fun Sword & Sorcery adventure, but don't want to read 13 volumes to get the story finished. 2y

39/150 The thing I like most about Cory Doctorow's writing is, while deeply steeped in technology, not not about technology, it's not about the technobabble and gadgets. Doctorow's stories are about people and how they are affected, for good or bad, by the advances in technology. Most of the stories here would fall into the category of dystopian fiction, especially "After the Seige", but there's always a thread of hope. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

36/150 I was leery of this book, afraid that I was too old for a fantasy with talking mice and woodland creatures. Boy was I wrong!! This was a wonderful adventure, full of lovable characters. I'll definitely read more of this series.

33/150 A fun, Halloween themed Doctor Who adventure. It wasn't scary, DW stories rarely are, but there were plenty of creepy moment, I don't like clowns, to give me some goose bumps. The 10th Doctor is always my favorite. 3 ⭐⭐⭐💫

Mycroft Holmes | Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Anna Waterhouse

29/150 Honestly, I've never cared for Mycroft Holmes in any of the Sherlock Holmes stories I've read, he always seemed like such a pompous ass. So this view of a young, reckless, impetuous Mycroft was a refreshing change of pace. Solid mystery. I'd read more of Mycroft's adventures.
2nd book for #KickTheSlump @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES and #20in4 @Andrew65

Awk_Word_Smith Yeah, but Kareem? Like THE Kareem? Like Lou Alcindor, Kareem? 2y
RamsFan1963 @Awk_Word_Smith According to the About The Author page, he has written several books, mostly non-fiction, and two children's books. I think this is his first foray into fiction. 2y

Dinosaur Summer | Greg Bear

Panpan

25/150 I can't believe how much I did not like this book. I love the premise, like a sequel to Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World, they were returning the last surviving Dinosaurs back to El Grande. However the books pace is grindingly slow, almost 3/4 over before reaching the Lost World. Once there, it's more like Jurassic Park, lots of running from dinosaurs. 2 ⭐⭐💫
2nd book finished for #FabulousFebruary @Andrew65

Unnatural Acts | Kevin J. Anderson

22/150 After reading Later, this is a different, much funnier view of ghosts and the undead. Dan Shamble, Zombie PI is up to his neck in cases involving golem slavery, stolen hearts from zombies, housing discrimination for a mixed couple (he's a vampire, she's a werewolf), and stopping an evil senator from making being an unnatural illegal. Funny, light hearted mystery.
