Seven Stones to Stand or Fall
Seven Stones to Stand or Fall: A Collection of Outlander Fiction | Diana Gabaldon
A magnificent collection of Outlander short fictionincluding two never-before-published novellasfeaturing Jamie Fraser, Lord John Grey, Master Raymond, and many more, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Diana Gabaldon The Custom of the Army begins with Lord John Grey being shocked by an electric eel and ends at the Battle of Quebec. Then comes The Space Between, where it is revealed that the Comte St. Germain is not dead, Master Raymond appears, and a widowed young wine dealer escorts a would-be novice to a convent in Paris. In A Plague of Zombies, Lord John unexpectedly becomes military governor of Jamaica when the original governor is gnawed by what probably wasnt a giant rat. A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows is the moving story of Roger MacKenzies parents during World War II. In Virgins, Jamie Fraser, aged nineteen, and Ian Murray, aged twenty, become mercenaries in France, no matter that neither has yet bedded a lass or killed a man. But theyre trying. . . . A Fugitive Green is the story of Lord Johns elder brother, Hal, and a seventeen-year-old rare book dealer with a sideline in theft, forgery, and blackmail. And finally, in Besieged, Lord John learns that his mother is in Havanaand that the British Navy is on their way to lay siege to the city. Filling in mesmerizing chapters in the lives of characters readers have followed over the course of thousands of pages, Gabaldons genius is on full display throughout this must-have collection.

Me: I don‘t need anything at the library. We really don‘t need to walk down there.

@J.Grantsby : that‘s okay we still can if you want.

Me: whoops.

shaynarae In my library consortium, I have a library where I go if I just want to return a book/pickup a hold and another library where I go if I‘m willing to let 👆🏼happen to myself. 13mo

I wonder if these short stories were scenes cut from the books. If so, good editing.

I finished this a few days ago and i officially loves it. I‘m a huge fan of novellas between main books, filling in little parts of the story or expanding on secondary and even tertiary characters. This collection did both of those and even had little threads connecting them. So fun.

So aside from the crazy amount of graphic novels I‘ve been reading, I‘ve also been reading this. I was mainly reading at work during break, but since I‘ve been recuperating from getting my wisdom teeth out, I‘ve nearly finished! Once I get through this, the outlandish companion, and a few more graphic novels it‘ll be back to Mount TBR!

I began the series in 2014, in time to watch the new STARZ series. I've read all of the Outlander series and all of the Lord John Grey series. If you enjoy historical fiction, time travel, and tremendous storytelling, check out these books.

I read all of the Lord John Grey novels in 2017 and love them about as much as the Outlander series. You don't have to read Outlander first, but I do recommend it.

Nothing else came, so I guess this note from Amazon is still all I have to go on. If you see this, thank you, mystery #secretsantagoespostal person, for the thoughtful book. It‘s no secret I love all things Outlander! Unfortunately I just got a copy in my #booktoteswap package earlier this month, so I really hope you don‘t mind if I utilize the gift receipt to exchange for a book I don‘t have. 😬 #wintersolsticebookexchange

#TBRtemptation post 3! Recently released. This is a collection of novellas and short stories set in the Outlander universe. These have never been published together before, and include two original stories. Most of them revolve around John Grey, but include Jamie, Ian, Roger, et al. The stories take place along all points of the Outlander timeline. Well-liked by devoted fans of the series. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Most of the stories in this book have been ebooks, so I had read most of them already. The two new stories were okay. I find that you have to really immerse yourself in the Outlander world and read them all close together (the big books) because they are filled with so many characters and plots and battles that I tend to forget half of what I have read if I don't read them one after another.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I've veered wildly between Ranger and Morelli over the years... will there ever be resolution?! 3y
drokka @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I hope there's a resolution soon. It would create a whole new set of tensions. Especially if she had her end up with Morelli, and Ranger taking over the bonds shop as a silent partner. 3y

Lmstraubie I didn't like Pride & Prejudice either and always feel guilty about it. 😣 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I think Stephanie needs to quit being a bounty hunter... she was amazing when she did consultation work at RangeMan (a million books back) but Morelli got weird about it... and she's not cut out for a 9-5 job! I'm hoping for some significant character development from at least one of the trio in the next book... can't tread water forever! 3y

I went ahead and purchased even though only 2 new stories out of 7.
A Fugitive Green & Besieged were both great reads but constant repackaging of previously released material is my new #bookishpetpeeves. I already had other 5 stories. I love Lord John Grey! He is a complex & fascinating character. If you want to read his story in chronological order, you have to jump from book to book & continually Google.

A Fugitive Green - Really enjoyed this short story of Minnie and Hal. I liked them in Big Books. Harry Quarry is always a fun character. His and Hal's friendship really shines here. Same narrator as Leaf on the Wind of all Hallows but it works here as characters are English.

Like all short story collections some are better than others. However this is Diana Gabaldon so if the ones that were not the best are still great. This was a nice book while waiting for the 9th Outlander book.

Sydsavvy How many had you already encountered? 3y
Lauren.Archer @Sydsavvy there are 5 previous and two new ones. I think I read one or two. There is a few from the Lord John Grey books which I have never read. 3y

My favorite #timetravel series, Outlander. I'm excited for the #lengthylit in August, because I've wanted to reread the series for some time. As I wait for that, I can indulge in this. #sizzlinsummerbooks

Librarybelle @erista More books we have in common! I listened to the entire series on audio, and Davina Porter does such a wonderful job with the voices. I'm looking forward to reading the book this time. 3y
erista @Librarybelle I read the first four in print format, then switched to audio to help make it through book 5, which was my least favorite of the series. I listened to the rest on audio too. Have you seen the tv show? 3y

Seven separate novellas that provide backstories for major and some minor characters. Three of the novellas had not been published as any Outlander publications, so those were new to me, and enjoyable. Also personally autographed for me by Diana at Denver 2017 Comic Con! #outlander #historicalfiction #18thcentury #anglophile

So, I've set myself on a buying ban for July and August. As today is the last new release day until September I picked up the new Diana Gabaldon and Maya Corrigan books. The others cried and cried until I agreed to let them come home with me too. My #droughtlander fix has arrived 💛 I have read 3 of these short stories digitally already but it is nice to have them in print form plus there are 4 I haven't read, 2 of which are new publications. I read there is supposed to be a story that has Master Raymond in it which I am looking forward to as he is probably my favorite not main character. #outlander
