The One by Kierra Cass is the third in the selection series. It's about America finally admitting her love to Maxon and the progression of their relationship. Oh my god are the only words I can use, this was the absolute perfect story and while there were definitely aspects I didn't get right away- I couldn't imagine a better ending for the best series I have ever read on my reading journey so far. 5/5 Stars.

I finished this book and oh my gosh was it good! It had everything I wanted plot twists, romance, and drama it was amazing. I felt so many emotions and that‘s what made it good. There was the happy feeling and the there was the sad feelings right after. The ending had so many different emotions, it ended the trilogy perfectly.I can‘t wait to read the next book. :)

I‘m surprised this one let me down. I was so invested in this to be the best one of all that I read it in a day.

It was good halfway through and then I couldn‘t get past the DRAMA. Really all we needed was some simple COMMUNICATION. How hard was that??

For a trilogy though, the first two books easily are better than this one.
(Review contd in the comments⬇️)

Rating: 3.5/5 (.5 because I‘m a sucker for the romance😍😂)
Book description ⬇️

I.be.Stef Review: I also felt the ending rushed by. I guess in a way it was as dramatic as the protagonist herself 😂. I wanted to know more about the government and their reign as new King and Queen.

I get it in the end it‘s a romance novel but it needed a bit more depth. There‘s a lot of questions left unanswered, major loopholes and more deets on the wedding? Is that too much to ask? 😫😅

I.be.Stef Book description: The time has come for one winner to be crowned.

When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.

“Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway.”
- Prince Maxon to America

Look what I found! A quote similar in To All the Boys?
"Break my heart, Covey," Peter says, his eyes pleading. "Break my heart into a thousand pieces. Do whatever you want."

⬇️ Contd in the comments ⬇️

I.be.Stef In a way I see that Prince Maxon and Peter Kavinsky are very similar, yet so different. While I never truly understood the Prince, Kavinsky‘s character development is phenomenal. 7mo

While I did enjoy the simple read of the first two, I had started to lose interest in the last one. Too much teenage angst for my liking and I felt like there were much more interesting stories outside of the selection that I felt myself longing for those storylines instead of the one I was in. Overall, I am sure a lover of teen romance will greatly enjoy this book, it just wasn't for me.

4.5/5🌟

The MC is as idiotic & immature as ever & you will be dying several times inside. But you will not regret reading this book! Much more interesting than the previous 2 books! I am disappointed that the author decided to leave this story hanging with this book & slap a 20 year gap in between for the next. I can't bring myself to invest myself on the 4th book. BUT I do feel satisfied with leaving this series at 3 books! Worth the read.

I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel finally after the disaster that was most of book 2! Can Ames hold this together? Will we regain our respect for her? Can't wait to find out!

A lot is packed into this and it could've easily ended up my fave of the 3 books, but most of it isn't developed enough. The romance drags out far more than it requires, and the king's challenges to America's loyalty got repetitive as well. After introducing interesting concepts of rebel groups & political overhaul, Cass doesn't give them enough space to develop. Despite the satisfying end to the romance, the pacing was uneven. Liked, not loved.

This is the third book in the Selection series and wraps up the whole love triangle business. There are four girls but the Prince can only choose one. Flaring tempers and impulsive actions lead to everyone being uncertain of each other even as the rebels increase their attacks in an effort to destroy the monarchy. Some sad moments in this one. I was again on the edge of my seat until the last moment! Book hangover time!

Though the books all had some violence and action, this is the saddest one. Some events unfold a bit too conveniently, and I saw a few of them coming from the start. As a result, the series feels predictable, but it is still entertaining.

Omg! ♥️I cried all the way through the last half hour of this audiobook!! It was so sweet! A modern day fairy tale. This was one of my fave installments in the series (which I‘ve finished at this point just late with reviews.) It was charming and fun and lifted my spirits during these troubled times. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5

Schnoebs So I know Netflix picked this up. It made me interested in reading this but I‘m unsure. Do you think a firs time reader of the series would still enjoy it? 2y
HOTPock3tt Definitely!! I was a first time reader just a few weeks ago 😂lol. I mostly read it because I read on Audible that Netflix picked it up! So I‘m just like you on that score! 🤗Lol! I had debated reading it maybe 2 years ago but wasn‘t sure, and that convinced me. Honestly it was QUITE charming. Rent it on hoopla or something, so you lose nothing in case you don‘t like it.... but I loved it! ♥️ @Schnoebs (edited) 2y

Again, angst-y and contradictory as the characters can‘t make up their mind, but it tied all the strings together and answers some lingering questions. Good wrap-up.

9/10 Third book in the series, enjoyed the journey with America and Maxon. They're both genuinely likeable characters if a little naive and it's easy to fall into the story. The ending wasn't a surprise, but there are a few unexpected turns getting to the end.

Only wish I have would have been to flesh out the other candidates a little more, they are very 2 dimensional most of the books.
