Could have read this in one sitting if life allowed the luxury! This story draws you in from the start.

KateFulfordAuthor If you like being drawn in early? May I recommend my debut as a future read? See my bio for all the links you need. Thanks, Kate 2y

I don‘t normally read True Crime, but decided on this one for the Read Harder Challenge - and boy am I glad I did! Michelle McNamara drew me in to her world - and now I‘m going to go read all about the guy they actually arrested in April (I‘ve been ignoring the news so as not to ruin my experience with the book!) Highly recommend this book no matter what genre you usually read. #matchbooks

Finally had to opportunity to sit down in the sun and read the last few chapters. And it was excellent! Plot development ✅, character development ✅. Recommend this one for the Read Harder challenge ‘female protagonist over 60‘.

Chelleo Sounds very interesting! 2y

Bailedbailed

“And at that moment the alligators burst into the room.” And at that moment, I bailed.
This sentence didn‘t make me gasp in shock, it made me roll my eyes. The premise of the story is good, but it‘s too fantastical for my liking.

wanderinglynn I felt the same way. I did push myself to finish it. Interesting premise, but it just failed for me too. 2y
BookishMe @wanderinglynn phew! Glad to find company. I can't recall if I bothered to finish it. Sadly it failed to meet expectations ;(( 2y
BookishMe I believe that's when I was put off! Too many strange unrelated characters, excessively busy without any substance 😲😡 2y
Mommamanzi I‘m only 3 chapters in and I JUST CANT. I usually love these types of books. It this just too much and sooo wordy. 2y

Is Anna Anastasia?!?! Loved this book. Told from the point of view of Anna post 1918 in a reversing timeline and Anastasia pre 1918 in a normal timeline. Ariel Lawson does an amazing job. I‘ve never read any of her books before, may have to add some to my TBR!! #matchbooks

A novel based on Oak Ridge, the city that developed the Atomic Bomb, even though the residents had no idea what they were working on. Good balance of fiction and historical fact, characters were well developed. Enjoyed this one and would recommend it for sure.

Enjoyed the plot and the characters in this one - however didn‘t like the over abundance of pop culture references and some of the negative views on females - like that a woman cannot have success after age 34. I understand this was only one characters view, but it was always supported and never challenged. Jessica Knoll tells a great story, and the ending was a surprise, but this whole story is just a bunch of women back stabbing each other.

I picked this for the ugly cover/cover I hate prompts for the Read Harder and Popsugar 2018 challenges. Lady in a pink frilly dress. Not my thing. But I read the description - spies?!?! That‘s sounds better. This was a good plot and some strong characters, just not the main one. Amy is a smart woman who can‘t see the truth no matter how obvious- not a very good spy. Enjoyed Jane and Miss Gwen. Not sure that I‘ll read the next 11 in the series.

HELP ME OUT!! I just finished listening to Wild by Cheryl Strayed on audiobook- my first experience in the audio reading world. I enjoyed the story, but found I would zone out from time to time. Any advice from audiobookers on how to stay tuned in?? Or recommendations of books with narrators that are engaging??

LaurenReads I listened to a lot of celebrity memoirs at first because they kept me interested easily, then I branched out as I got used to listening and paying attention 😀 2y
mommamatch @LaurenReads I have The Princess Diarist cues up next, narrated by Carrie Fisher herself, so hopefully I‘ll be listening!! 2y
Birdsong28 Kevin Hart's biography was fun to listen to as he narrated it and at times lost track of what he was reading as he adlibbed alot so it just felt like it was he was just chatting to you rather than just reading his book word for word. It's good as sometimes I zone out and realise I've missed bits of the story and always wonder if I have missed important parts so with this book it doesn't matter if you do zone out. 📚📖 2y
See All 6 Comments
BookishMe I still face same problem of zoning out or dozing off (if I just sit back to 'pay attention' without any distraction :)) that said, I find Alan Cumming a compelling narrator and I am drawn to the story more than usual. I know some Littens enjoy #audiowalk... Hopefully they can be helpful 2y
AmyG Ha...I always tend to zone in and out. For that reason, I never read anything super literary. I usually do more light reading by audio. Otherwise...I rewind a lot. 2y
mommamatch Thank you @Birdsong28 @BookishMe and @AmyG for your input. I‘ll try a few more audiobooks and hopefully get into the medium. 2y

Didn‘t enjoy this one as much as I expected to. Maybe the five months wait on Libby created too much anticipation?? I liked the plot and the way the story was developed. Didn‘t really like Lo.
This was my first Ruth Ware read, are her others the same?

DebBates101 I loved it so I bought In a Dark, Dark Wood next and did not like it at all. Then I read The Lying Game and LOVED it. But I think I am often influenced by my mood when i read thrillers. 2y

3) no one in particular but I don‘t like weak, whiny females. Grow a pair ladies!!
4) Twilight and 50 Shades (didn‘t enjoy the first one and no desire to read the second).
