Hour 33: Under the Radar #24in48 @24in48

Most people know #Wilder from #OurTown. But this one is just as good, if not better. It won a #pulitzer (one of Wilder‘s 3!), is set in #Peru, and has the humor and humanity that Wilder is known for.

Bailedbailed

As much as it pains me I bailed on this book about half way through. I felt like the author never truly made a connection with Laura, her faith and her life. It felt disjointed with sweeping generalization throughout.

In the authors defensive this is not the style of book I would typically read (I usually avoid all religious books!)

However, I was willing to give it a try bc it‘s about Laura Ingalls Wilder. So disappointed I didn‘t like it. :(

I was so excited when this arrived today! The editor reached out to me last year and asked to use one of my blog images in the book😁 I had forgotten completely about it making its arrival even more exciting. Guess this will be my next read...

UwannaPublishme How cool is that! 👏🏻👏🏻 6y
Bourriquet76 I need this!!!! I have an LHotP obsession. 6y
debthmpsn @Bourriquet76 Me too!!! I spent 2 summers traveling to the places she lived (except Florida). Those were some epic road trips 😁🚘 6y

tpixie What a thrill!! @debthmpsn my brother in law‘s Gma used to run the Museum in Mansfield, MO. After she died, he donated LIW‘s things to the Smithsonian. I was able to hold some her handwritings in in my own hands! 6y
tpixie ( what blog image did they use?) !!! 6y
debthmpsn @tpixie pretty sure I would have cried if they would have let me hold anything hand written by her. Btw, the museum in Mansfield is beautifully done but DeSmet and Plum Creek hold a special place in my ❤️ 6y
debthmpsn @tpixie I Blog at www.justshortofcrazy.com i blogged about my first summer adventure of road tripping with Laura, but haven‘t the 2nd summer yet. I have a book started and want to finish writing soon & hopefully publish. (edited) 6y

Hoopiefoot @ValerieAndBooks I have! It was a fun read 😀 7y
Bklover I've been there! Isn't it interesting how small everything is?! 7y
Eggs I visited Laura and Almanzos home several years back and loved it. Everything seems to be on a much smaller scale...Love the fireplace 7y
Hoopiefoot @awishman Me too! I've been to Plum Creek, DeSmet, and now Mansfield so far. 7y
Hoopiefoot @Bklover @eggs I agree-it was small and simple but cozy too. I'd love to live in a place like that--minus the worries of taking care of an old farmhouse! 7y
awishman @Hoopiefoot I've been to Burr Oak, DeSmet and Mansfield. I have a friend who road trips with me! 7y

Pickpick

8th #februarybook #Wilder by @rebeccayarros. Enjoyed this new adult adventure romp. What goes better together than adrenaline and love? Classic poor nerd girl and rich adventure junkie meet in unusual circumstances with plenty o'secrets to be discovered. Like the set up for the next book and I assume there'll be at least two more to have the whole Renegade team happily matched up. P.s loved this cover. #romantsy

MarriedtoMrT Bought it this week on a GR deal of the day. Haven't started it yet. Happy to read a positive review! I always wanted to do a semester abroad on a boat. 7y
