Struggling to get this one going. The first chapter was great!! But now we go back in time to the events leading up to Chapter 1. I'm only at page 45, but I keep putting it down after each chapter. Please tell me it picks up soon?!!

mramos.tx It takes a good 100 pages to get going, but a good read in the end. 14h
MaceyT15 @mramos.tx Thank you! I just hit page 200 and it has definitely improved. There are a lot of storylines going on right now and I can't wait to see how it all comes together! 14h

Dr. Alex Taylor is living a nightmare! She honestly believes she has been kidnapped, assaulted and left for dead. As she begins to share her story, she realizes no one believes her. Events begin to happen around her and she's blamed for these too. Was it all in her head? Is this because of her attack last year?

I enjoyed the suspense and thrill of this story. Although, I did figure it out pretty early on I still enjoyed how the story played out.

😯😱 Blown away right now! Just finished this read and I am having trouble formulating my thoughts. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around everything I just experienced. As debut novels go, holy buckets! He's gonna have to put a lot of effort into book #2 to even come close to this book!
All I can say is I need to read it again, like tomorrow!

Bookishlie This looks very interesting. It might be my next read. Would it work as an ebook? 2w
MaceyT15 @Bookishlie I would think an ebook would work, but I'd shy away from the audio version. I've read some reviews of those who listened and they commented how it was a bit challenging to follow the story properly. 2w
Bookishlie K thanks! I might try this next. I‘m a little over WW II stuff at the moment. 2w
MaceyT15 @Bookishlie I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! It's definitely one that pulls at your brain...don't be worried if you don't know what's happening right away. The story builds for a bit before truly revealing its plot 2w

Library hold pickup day!! I've been waiting for this one 😁🤩🤗
Ready, set, go!

dfieb My copy only has 7 deaths. 3w
MaceyT15 @dfieb I looked into this recently as I was confused since I'd only seen "7" as well. Turns out they altered the title when it was printed in US, similar to how many of Agatha Christie's novels were renamed in the US versions. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone was also changed to Sorcerer's Stone in US. Makes it very confusing!! 3w
dfieb Makes sense. I bought my copy in Canada. 3w

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT!
I tried really hard to enjoy this book. The premise was good, but the courtroom setting was a bit overwhelming for me. I don't think I am much of a fan of Angie Kim's writing style.
I wanted to enjoy this; I really did, but it just wasn't in the cards for me this time.
My first #BOTM fail. 🙁

Peter Swanson is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint. Even with mixed reviews, I stuck through this one and ended up loving it! I found the story compelling and gripping. It reflects real life and these types of stories happen every day. While I understand some may see the relationships as controversial, I do not. I applaud the boldness of his storylines!

The premise in the beginning was a bit far fetched for me, but as the story continued it all started to fall in line. Suspense at every corner - along with a few unsuspected turns! I love when a story can do that and it still flows. The multiple POVs and altered timelines gives this book an extra jolt of thrill. As a redhead myself, I found I quickly fell in love with Lily. Heck of an ending too!

"The square of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sums of the squares of the other two sides."
What a world to live in with a greeting such as this. Although I didn't understand all aspects of the story, it definitely put our world into perspective. Regarded more highly than all else, truth and facts are most holy.
This wasn't one of my favorites of this year, but still worth a read.

So many layers to this story and you never really know who to trust! Mindy's life is broken into pieces by a devastating crash that leads to twist after turn of deceit and half-truths. Just when I thought I had it all figured out; wrong again. Quick read, enthralling twisted thriller.

Blown away by the depth of this story. There were many times I held my breath afraid of what I might be reading, but I found the love between Kellen and Wavy to be something so many of us desire to find. One of the most moving books I've ever had the pleasure of reading! Highly recommend 👍👍

"He squeezed me tight, almost as tight as I needed...Tight enough to tell me I was important to him. A little tighter and I would know I was more important than anything else. That was what I wanted."

Although this book makes me extremely uncomfortable at times, I cannot tear myself away from the love and pain Wavy has experienced/is experiencing. Gripping, haunting, disturbing...but beautiful. Unsure what the final pages will reveal.

LOVED!! Thx BOTM for introducing me to Peter Swanson...second book was even better than the first.
Kate and Corbin swap homes for 6months, thinking it will be a great opportunity for each of them to escape and start fresh. Within moments of Kate's arrival in Boston. She learns Corbins' neighbor has been killed; no, murdered. Is it possible Corbin is a killer? Kate can't shake the feeling that he could be and begins to dig into his past...

I was really looking forward to this one, but maybe my expectations were too high. The story was pretty good, but I think multiple points of view didn't fit well in the storyline. I would've enjoyed it much more solely from Hazel's POV. Can't win 'em all!
Still a decent read and worth your time.

Chillingly reminiscent of The Lovely Bones - but just as gripping and sorrowful. A story of true loss; a family struggling to find themselves and discover love through loss. Laurel has lost so much, yet discovers herself through her painful struggle. The story isn't so much a whodunit, as it's quite easy to deduce. I found myself crying both tears of sadness and joy until the very last words.

Quick read and so worth it!

Hen's life has been quite complicated, but she had hoped the move to her new house would be a welcome change for her and her husband. Little does she realize one friendly dinner changes her life forever.

I did enjoy this book, but I was disappointed that I guessed the twist pretty early on. It didn't change how much I was engrossed in Hen and Matthew's stories. This would definitely be a book I would read again! Who knows what I missed?!

Kate Meaney is an endearing character and I so wish there was more of her in this story. This book wasn't a solid Yay for me due to complexity of storyline and confusing cast of characters. I did enjoy how all the characters somehow connected, but this wasn't made clear until the end. Not bad for a book that's been sitting on my shelf since 2008!

Sutton and Ethan's love story is one for the books. Convoluted, shrouded in lies, but deep and everlasting. That is, until Ethan's world is torn apart by Sutton's disappearance. Filled with countless twists and breathless reveals, Lie To Me will keep you guessing...and confused! My only criticism is the additional "narrated" chapters. The book could've held it's own without them.

I'll be honest, I'm still not truly sure my feelings on this book. It certainly provided a shocking conclusion that I could've never guessed, but I felt deceived by the storyline at the same time. In hindsight, it is brilliantly written. Maybe I'm just a little bitter I was SO surprised! Makes me want to read Euripides. #BOTM

Circe's tale is beyond moving. The pages come to life and you are enveloped into the story. With each turn of the page, I felt as though I was walking side by side with Circe, feeling & living each moment. Beautifully scripted. I fell in love with Circe's realness; her humanity bled from within. This is a must read, regardless of your preferred genre. Circe covers them all.

Bookishlie I started it but lagged like 4 pages in. I figured I‘d try again someday in a different mood. 2w
MaceyT15 @Bookishlie it took me quite a few pages to actually start enjoying it. I'd guess at least 100 until I was really committed- after that point I flew through it! The first 3rd sets up the characters and backstory. 2w

Conflicting emotions felt during my read. I'll be honest, I tried starting this multiple times but quickly lost interest. Glad I gave it another shot. While the first half was confusing at times - wondering how these storylines connected - the conclusion to the story was utterly beautiful. Each character felt so real and tangible, like I too wanted to climb into this story.

I did enjoy this book, however I had higher hopes for the ending. It lacked structure for me. I found myself identifying with Clara the more I learned about her as a character. I felt her emotions on every page... almost like I'd been there before personally.
Moral of the story: Be careful who you trust - no matter who they are.
