I finally finished this book yesterday AND I LOVED IT! I‘ll be honest, I‘ve never read ANYTHING fiction/non-fiction about South Americans crossing the border into USA and by reading this, this has made me want to. This is a work of fiction based on research of people escaping their home countries due to serious threats to their lives and I think it did a great job of highlighting the issue.

Day 6: Best audiobook to listen to on a road trip.
.
.
The book is funny, heart wrenching, heart breaking and a show of true friendship and love. 💜 I love the fact that there is a true representation of depression and anxiety and how it looks to people on the outside and how the people suffering are treated.

Highly recommend NOT listening to this book with children in the car. 👶There are some very serious adult themes throughout.

Scochrane26 I just put this on hold in audiobook format yesterday. 4y
BookishEscapade @Scochrane26 the narrator is amazing! She does a great job 4y

Day 6: A book that broke your heart. 💔
.
.
So this book didn‘t break my 💜 the most but I have already done #TheNightingale for one of my days.
.

If you love historical fiction set during the Holocaust, this is a must read. Beautifully written that makes you connect with the characters which pulls at your heart strings. .

Day 5: Favourite classic novel.
.
Don‘t judge me! This is the only choice I have as it is literally the only classic I have read cover...to cover...
.
My aim this year though is to try and read all of Jane Austen and Wuthering Heights. Hopefully I can do it 🤞

Moment of truth! .
.
Okay, so I at first was very reluctant and struggled to get into Outlander (even though I love, love LOVE the show!) but now I can‘t stop reading. I admit at first it took me awhile to get used to the Scottish conversations and the way that it was written but now I very easily can read and understand it and I‘m in love. So happy I have chosen to read these and didn‘t give up ❤️
.

kgriffith Davina Porter narrated the audiobooks and is truly the main reason I‘ve read as far as I have in the series. 4y
BookishEscapade @kgriffith really? That‘s good to know! I might reread by listening to them. Thanks! 4y

Day 4: Book you remember from your childhood.
.
.
I was obsessed with Roald Dahl & his ‘The Witches‘ since I was able to read. And I remember this story absolutely terrifying me and giving me nightmares and fearing Norway. It wasn‘t until in University that I stopped fearing the country and fell in love with it and have placed it on my bucket list. 😂
.
.
I can‘t wait to read this story to my children 😍

Day 3: Book You Did Not Finish.
.
I started this before the series of #TheHandmaidsTale came out and I could not get past 50 pages or so. I bought a special edition book and I felt that could have been a reason why because I didn‘t want to ruin the cover or pages by reading it.
.
So right after #TheTestaments came out I made sure to have it read but on my #kindle. Absolutely loved it then! 💕 can‘t say the same for The Testaments though 😳🤷🏻‍♀️

While this story made me wildly uncomfortable at times, this story twisted the patriarchy and made sure that women were entirely in control of a society which stood the test of time for centuries. I recommend for anyone who wants their thoughts to be tested, pushed outside of their comfort zone and for fans of The Handmaids Tale to read this. Definitely thought provoking!

I could read Kristin Hannah over and over again and fall in love with her stories more each time.

This story was so heartbreakingly beautiful that it‘s one you could reread and feel like you could quickly read again because of how beautifully it was written.

Showcasing the harsh realities of war on soldiers and the harsh unforgiveable landscape of Alaska, The Great Alone is a novel of heroism, heartbreak, love, family and violence.

Must read.

With the bushfires in NSW, Australia causing most of Sydney to be smothered in smoke the washing needs to be drying inside and all windows/doors need to be closed to prevent our home from being Smokey.

Days like this, weekends like this, are filled with reading in awkward positions that are weirdly comfortable 💁🏻‍♀️

I‘m not planning on moving until my NBA game starts in 15 minutes. I‘ve already been here 4 hours 🤷🏻‍♀️💕

I really wanted to love it. But I just couldn‘t. It was just... boring? It kept jumping back and forth and the best part was when they were overseas. Which made up a tiny part of the 748 pages.

Liked the ending though, don‘t know if I‘d read it again. I probably will, but not for a while. On a positive note, this was my 20th book this year!! 🥳

When you‘re teaching a diary/journal unit for English literature and decide to focus on the Holocaust.

Every lesson I read a chapter and students are composing a diary from the perspective of Bruno with his thoughts and feelings about everything he is experiencing.

At the end, students will present this as an accompaniment to this text to know more about Bruno 😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read my review above.

I strongly believe maybe if the book was divided by Aunt Lydias perspective as one and then the two sisters as the other the entire story would be so different and more detail could have been presented.

Rushed, I was wishing for more.

Okay, so according to my kindle I am 36% of the way through Atwood‘s novel and I am on struggle street.

At the moment, I don‘t agree with this winning the Booker Prize. It took me ages to work out who the other characters were apart from Aunt Lydia and I don‘t like the way it‘s set out.

Anyone agree or disagree?
