Pickpick

What a gripping read. Sometimes I forget what an “ivory tower” I, and many of us, live in. This book is moving from start to finish. The way the author writes kept me reading even when I should‘ve been doing something else. Not the happiest of reads, so be prepared, but definitely a read that causes pause and makes you think, rethink, evaluate, and reevaluate so much. Excellent. Please leave a comment “if you love this, you‘ll also like [...]”

Help! We need ideas for a reading-based science fair project! Requirement: to be done only by my 8th grade kiddo, the reader! She is an avid YA reader! Thank you for any ideas!

Addison_Reads Perhaps a study on different types of music and how they alter her reading speed? She could use her reading time/page without music as her base and then try classic, pop, and rock. Or whatever music she likes. 😁 4d
BookieBiker @Addison_Reads Can you believe that‘s similar to what she did last year 😉. We did # of pages read with various distractions (tv, music, talking, nature). And...she won the school and 3rd in the county 🤣. But- I like this- maybe we can just do different types, music only. Thank you!!!! 3d
Addison_Reads @BookieBiker If you just focused on music, it would be cool to bring in her findings from last year to compare with what she finds. Does a certain type of music perhaps cause as much distraction as something else she tested last year? I love bringing books and science together 💚 My two favorite subjects. 3d

BookieBiker @Addison_Reads Thank you so much! She LOVES this idea and is submitting it 😁. She loves reading and isn‘t a fan of the science fair so this makes it “easy” and FUN for her. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to help out! Sometimes she needs to hear this from someone other than her mom! ❤️ 3d
Addison_Reads @BookieBiker I'm glad I could help. I love that you guys are using reading as the subject. I hope she has fun with it and wins again this year. 😁 3d

This book started with a fascinating bang. And while the detail is incredible, I find the read tedious. I have to focus on staying attentive. Yet somehow I don‘t want to give up on the book due to its unique information. 50% read thus far. Ugh.

This book is gripping! I love books that move your emotions and senses! Please recommend ones you love that do the same!! Also, I cannot figure out how to post a pic without Litsy cropping it! Let‘s see if it posts ok so long as I don‘t manipulate it! Happy Thursday!

TrishB Love this book too! I use square size app to prevent the cropping. 6d

This was, without a doubt, the worst book I‘ve read in decades. I was hoping I could give this 2 stars had the ending been spectacular but his book was a bore throughout. What did I just read? Didn‘t bail on it for 2 reasons: the kiddo chose it from my unread shelf for me to read and... the brilliance of JKR. She‘s brilliant but this book was brutal, sorry :( I only apologize because it pains me to say it. Hard pass on the rest in this series.

saresmoore I didn‘t enjoy this one, waited several years, then tried the second in the series and made it about ten pages before I bailed. Harry Potter is where her genius lies, I think. Have you read 1w
BookieBiker @saresmoore I agree wholeheartedly re Harry Potter. I have The Casual Vacancy on my bookshelf unread. A friend told me yesterday it was not very good either. I think I‘ll take a wide break before thinking about reading it. Did you like it? 1w
saresmoore I hated it! 😂 The subject matter is something I‘m not even remotely connected to, so it was an all-around disappointment. 1w

The view today does not suck. The book however......... it pains me to say it‘s a grueling read for me.....

Cathythoughts I‘m on the third one in this series... they get better. I love it as the relationship between Corm & Robin develops .... mind you my reading on this one is on hold for almost a year now 🤔 2w

First post. Trying to figure this site out. My teen is at Booknet Fest and, as chaperone, I suppose I‘ll just relax all weekend and read. Hard to relax when this book makes you laugh, snort, and sniffle :)

saresmoore Nice reading view! 2w

saresmoore It‘s fun to join in on #friyayintro posts from @howjessreads and often folks will host buddy reads, readathons, and reading challenges. I think @LitsyHappenings might still be a good launching point for those sorts of things. 1w
