Definitely worth a read,if you like historical gay romance and werewolves?
But compared to Chambers' other work, I found this one a little slower to take off.
She has a great way with words, however, and I did enjoy the pay off, despite it being somewhat predictable.

No spoilers.
I just enjoyed this much more than the last. It was easier to get into and keeo up with (for the most part). So many nerdy references and I definitely didn't get them all. Bjt fun drinking game if you take a shot for the ones that you DO get.

I love Foxglove.

I really enjoyed reading about the Rivers of London world from a different perspective and seeing what the main series narrator and his world have gotten wrong. Or simply failed to consider.
I hope the characters get to meet, even if somewhat reluctantly.

The quality is on par with the main series. You have to pay attention at times so my dog walks involved a little bit of an audio rewind here and there. And comedy is threaded through.

I've been listening to this while walking the dog and it genuinely made me walk a little extra, so the dog liked it too!
It's a different take on the end of humanity, avoiding political actions or climate change, and it's a small scale survival in a huge scale event.
It's definitely worth picking up. It threatens to drag at times, but it's easy to come back to.

So, this is actually film vs film ranting. But I've seen so many things really slating the film in comparison to A Quiet Place and also claiming it copied it. However, this book was written before A Quiet Place which, other than hiring an actual deaf actor, was pretty forgettable. There's no real back story, no real progression for me. I'm not saying The Silence is a masterpeice, but I do feel critics are over-harsh. #hiredeafactors

As read by Sam Peter Jackson.
I have a physical copy, but when I checked to see if the audiobook had a German narrator, well. Be still my beating heart. I have a thing for German accents and the language. It's a change in style from Kobna but it's change in narrator too. Jackson is a calm and playful narrator.

So, I get films changing a lot of a books content in order to squeeze it into their time frame. But I always mourn when they change a location. Even more so when I learn the original is in WALES. Welsh accents are a gift from the Old Gods. But no, if American's make it, it HAS to be American. How else would their audience understand it or even want to see it??? Booooooo. Netflix, Amazon, Sky, someone make the Welsh series. And have a deaf actor?

Most were comics and apps, but still better than the year before. My longest was Sense and Sensibility, which I took on during a weekend of so much self indulgence, I had to complete it by audiobook as I was too drunk to see.

Feel free to add me on goodreads, I'm starvinglion.

I used to live & work overseas and, after my brother had his arn twisted to come visit so he could take some of my books back to the UK, my family got me a kindle. I fell in love, love the search function, the look, the size, the entire library in my bag, highlighting, samples. Audible.

But I still bought physical books and, when I came home from good, went back to physcial mostly. But I still love my reading apps!

Please excuse the absence of Rivers of London. It's in possession of a coworker. I used to own 2 of the 4 copies I've bought, but Dad fell in love so I let him keep it. Maybe I need another spare.

Anyway! This was written by a screenwriter who worked on Dr Who and there are talks of a TV SHOW! Which I would be equally happy with. I just need more formats, more things to possess.

I already posted an #artrelatedbooks, so this time I've gone abstractly for one with beautiful art. I went to great pains to get this book before the new year (2015) & got it on new years eve after leaving work early to spend £5 getting in & out of town to pick it up from #waterstones. It was worth it, as I read it at the stroke of midnight after a rough few weeks. It gave me hope& comfort and really is just so, so beautiful.

Let's try this #recommensday thing.

Jane Austen took me a long time to appreciate. We watched Sense and Sensibility a lot at home when I was a kid but, being the Romantic that I am, I didn't understand all the crying and outbursts. I liked watching it for my joint crush on Winslet and Rickman. I didn't get any more Romantic as an adult, but I tried the book for an Online course about mental health and reading and fell in love with the humour!

Sharing this here, over from the Penguin Instagram Challenge, because I'm quite pleased with the photo!

This is the spy secrion of my wartime and spy books. Fleming, Le Carré, and a few factual books, all of which I highly recommend.

As stated on the Instagram post, I'd never seen a Bond film until about 4 years ago. Skyfall was due out and a friend and colleague encouraged me to give it a go. But first I had to read the book! Now im hooked!

I think I've onky read this one other time since uni and only remembered the very basic idea. I forgot how well constructed it was and how vibrant the narrator. It gives such an insight into the treatment of women and mental illness at the time, and reflects a lot of the current stigma too.

Ah, I love Peter. From the architectural opionions to the nerd knowledge. The first time I saw the Shard, I'd arrived in London from Paris and was getting a train home. I hadn't heard a single thing about the building and just saw this strange structure that looked ready to send a beacon to awaiting alien spacecraft.
