Gosh! It's really tough to choose #top10ofthedecade. I got to 11 and then it was painful to take one out. Such horrors. 😱 Although, it was fun seeing everyone's selection. 🙃

@Cinfhen

TrishB Great choices though 👍🏻 4y
batsy Such horrors, indeed! 😂 I love this list 👏🏽👏🏽 4y
sudi Great list 👍 4y

Cinfhen Fabulous decision making!!!! 4y
LeahBergen Ooo, there are some great ones here! 4y
Tanisha_A @batsy Now i am grumpy about taking My Year of Rest and Relaxation, and Normal People out. Ugh! 🥺 4y
Tanisha_A @TrishB @sudi @LeahBergen It was tough, as you girls already know. I will never be contented. Haha! Peace. 😊 4y
Tanisha_A @Cinfhen Thanks for pushing us to do this. 😁 4y
readordierachel Love your choices! 4y
Tanisha_A @readordierachel And i just saw yours - love it. I wanted to include NP and Station Eleven too, but sigh. And i want to read everything else you've chosen. 💚 4y
Graywacke ❤️ your list 4y
Tanisha_A @Graywacke Thankee ☺️! I haven't read any of the ones you chose. There are many I want to - Baldwin, all the Morrison, Ferrante, Proust. Sighhh! 4y
Graywacke @Tanisha_A you have lots to look forward to. 🙂 4y

The Way of Kings | Brandon Sanderson

Just got the last of my chunkster reads for 2020. I almost got halfway through Way of Kings this year with audio, but the whole time I really wanted to read it. I've heard A Little Life makes you want to die/ugly cry, so I had to get it. The 3rd biggin is It, which I already own.

#2020goals

Yossarian Those two might take you into 2021 by themselves... 4y
night_shift @Yossarian 😂😂 maybe!! 4y
Rissreads A little life is soooooo good! It has been in ALOT of Littens #top10ofthedecade lists. 😍 4y
night_shift @Rissreads we'll see! I've heard both sides and I'm not a huge litfic reader so it may be a task lol 4y

I'm still working on my #top10ofthedecade. It's hard, it's like choosing only 10 people to take with me to the end of the world. 😭 So while I pay tribute and remember ten years of books, here's 9 favorites from 2019! (1 year is so much easier than a whole decade.)

eanderson The Craftsman is so good!!! 4y
MicheleinPhilly I refuse to do top 10 of the year OR decade until Tuesday. 4y
valeriegeary @MicheleinPhilly this is probably a good idea. Though looking at my stack, and what I'm going to get through before next week I don't think my list is going to change much....I did leave a spot open for this year's top 10 though... Just in case. 😆 4y
valeriegeary @eanderson it was a surprise favorite for me! I want expecting to like it as much as I did! 4y
valeriegeary @eanderson *wasn't expecting 4y

Beloved | Toni Morrison

#Top10oftheDecade - well 12, this time of books I read these last ten years, but pub. whenever. (for you @Liz_M 🙂)

List is very personal, and it‘s strange because of all the books and authors and styles I didn‘t include (no Infinite Jest, Shakespeare, audio, graphic, Homer, Ovid, post-Renaissance poetry - no a lot of stuff). It‘s just tough to narrow down. But I did really treasure all the experiences with these books (some despite their flaws)

Graywacke The list - part 1
Giovanni‘s Room - James Baldwin
When I Lived in Modern Times - Linda Grant
Moby Dick - Herman Melville
Island Fire - An Anthology of Literature from Hawai‘i - edited by Cheryl A. and James R. Harstad (this has poetry! I forgot!!)
Collected Novellas - Gabriel Garcia Márquez (add his later short stories too)
Song of Solomon - Toni Morrison
(edited) 4y
Graywacke The list - part 2
The Faerie Queene - Edmund Spenser
The Prospector - J. M. G. Le Clezio (because it was my first by this run-on master)
Neapolitan Quartet - Elena Ferrante
Beloved - Toni Morrison
The Songlines - Bruce Chatwin
Swann‘s Way - Marcel Proust (I‘ve only read this and book 2)
4y
Crazeedi Love your list. Ferrante is definitely on mine 4y

Liz_M 😁😁😁Thank you for this! Two Morrisons, excellent. I loved that Baldwin and Moby-Dick and Swann's Way so I will have to look for the test. Faerie Queen intimidates me. 4y
Graywacke @Crazeedi thanks! Love Ferrante 4y
Graywacke @Liz_M it was good motivation. FQ took on a kind of obsession. I started it just to see what it was like, with an lt group. Was intrigued by the intro that noted 9 of 10 readers don‘t finish book one and 9 of 10 of those stop there. Or something like that. Lt group quit. But it reads really nice once you get into the flow and there‘s nothing else like it. So once I kind of figured it out, I was off... (never bought a copy ☺️, just library borrows) 4y

The Help | Kathryn Stockett

The books published in the last decade that I most regret not reading. I *should* put every one into my January TBR, right? Just FYI, the one in the top left corner is a friend‘s memoir and I‘m just horrible for not reading it yet! #regretsedition #top10oftheDecade

jessinikkip I have The Help marked to be read in 2020 as well. 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have almost all of these on my to-read list too... looks like a buddy read challenge for 2020 to me! 😂🤪 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @jessinikkip Glad I‘m not the only one who still hasn‘t read it! 4y

BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yes! Between your list of regrets and mine, I‘d say we have a year of buddy reads. Once we get through tomorrow, let‘s email and make our plan! 4y

jessinikkip Let me know if you guys put The Help in the plan, I would join in, if its ok? @BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @jessinikkip Sure—that sounds good! 4y
ReadingEnvy Evicted is astounding. The Help is a little too white savior for my tastes. 4y
marleed I‘m awaiting my library copy of Just Mercy. I want to read it before seeing the film. 4y
Hooked_on_books I can say Evicted and Just Mercy are both extraordinary books and you should definitely read them soon! Also THUG is great. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @ReadingEnvy Good to know—thanks. I‘ve seen both comments in reviews. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Hooked_on_books They really are at the top of my 2020 list! 4y
Pricel101 Just Mercy is on my #Newyearwhodis read with @AnneCecilie can‘t wait to read it! 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Pricel101 Nice! Hope we both get a lot out of it—I hesitate to say enjoy. 4y
HOTPock3tt I haven‘t read “The hate you give” either! And I really want to! I loved “On the come up” by Angie Thomas. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @HOTPock3tt I have just heard so many good things about both! 4y
HOTPock3tt @BarbaraTheBibliophage I was shocked that she was able to present a very important topic, yet keep the book readable and fun! ☺️ 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @HOTPock3tt That IS a skill and talent! 4y
HOTPock3tt @BarbaraTheBibliophage It really is!! 🤗 and that made “On The Come Up” one of my fave books of the year!! ♥️ 4y

I am late to the party but wanted to post my #Top10oftheDecade #NonFictionEdition. Although I have always read some nonfiction over there years Litsy has certainly helped broaden my horizons in the this genre. These are the best of the bunch in the last 10 years.

Cinfhen I love seeing everyone‘s picks!! Thanks so much for sharing 🙌🏻❣️I‘ve read a bunch on your list and agree😁 4y

Not sure who to thank for putting this on their #Top10OfTheDecade but my library hold just came in and so far this audio is fabulous. I really am not so familiar with the actress Kate Mulgrew but her story is fascinating and her narration is beautiful. Loving this 🎧

Cathythoughts Yes the #TheTop10ofTheDecade has been a gift to me too. Must still do mine 😬 (edited) 4y
Chrissyreadit Now I must add it to my audiobook wishlist! 4y
Crazeedi Hmm not seen this, will consider for new year! 4y

Cinfhen Maybe you posted and I found it on your list @kyraleseberg ??? No matter, I‘m just glad it found it‘s way to me. It‘s so good so far @Cathythoughts @Chrissyreadit @Crazeedi 4y
KarenUK I loved her in Orange is the new Black.... 👍💕 4y
Megabooks I put it on mine! Love it! Remember @LitHousewife ? She first suggested it to me. It was like my 5th audible buy and still one of the best! 4y
LitHousewife I absolutely loved this audiobook!!! 4y
Cinfhen I should have known it was YOU @Megabooks !!!!! ❤️😘great recommendation from @LitHousewife 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 4y
Cinfhen I‘m not familiar with this actress @KarenUK but she seems to have had a VERY long career 😁 4y
MicheleinPhilly This is one my all time favorite memoirs! 4y
Aimeesue True story: I bought my house because of Kate Mulgrew. It's on JANE WAY. 😁 That was literally the deciding factor between our two favorites when we were house hunting. 4y
kyraleseberg @Cinfhen It's possible, I know I found it too thanks to some wonderful Littens! I definitely need to check for the audio at my library. I've only known her as Red on Orange Is the New Black so learning about her extensive theatre and TV career was fun. 4y
Cinfhen Wow!!! So much love for Kate M 😁 @MicheleinPhilly @kyraleseberg @Aimeesue 4y

To add to the #top10ofthedecade #fictionedition I'm borrowing an idea from @Lindy and doing an #intranslationedition #fictionintranslation

Feel very lucky to be able to have access to a fantastically diverse selection of fiction translated into English; so many brilliant books 💙

@Cinfhen

alisiakae Great idea! And I‘m stacking a lot of these! 😄 4y
Cinfhen Love this!!! Thanks for the additional #TBRexplosion 💥heads up @Kalalalatja 4y
Billypar Great list! Schweblin is at the top of my must-try authors for 2020. Really want to try those Miaojin and Lispector choices. And Strange Weather... @Reggie convinced me on @ReadingEnvy podcast. So basically everything on this list is a must-read for me (except Vegetarian- already read and loved) 😁 4y

Lindy Thanks for sharing your list! 2020 might be the year that I finally pick up Clarice Lispector. 😊 4y
batsy @Billypar I'd definitely encourage you to try them all 😁 Lispector's stories I reread over a period of a year or so... There's something about how she sees the world. And Strange Weather is just one of the loveliest books in terms of being life-affirming. Fever Dream on the other hand messed with me 😭 4y
batsy @Lindy My pleasure! I've only read Lispector's shorts and the novella The Hour of the Star. She's pretty special. Would love to see what you think if you give her a try. 4y
Suet624 I‘ve only read Vegetarian but I did a screenshot so I can find the others. Thanks for sharing! 4y
Kalalalatja Oh, so many new to me books! Definitely a big #TBRexplosion @Cinfhen 💥💥💥 4y
BarbaraBB I may like this one even more 😍😍 4y

batsy @readordierachel Always a pleasure 😁❤️ 4y
GatheringBooks oh em gee. this is perfect for our #ReadIntlLit2020. Taking note of some of the lesser-known-to-me titles. You are a veritable treasure trove, Suba. 4y
batsy @GatheringBooks 😘 I hope you get a chance to read them and I'd love to know what you think! 4y
