#aprilbookshowers Day 20 & 22: #ruralsetting & #earthtonecovers Close enough right?

This was a #goodreadsgiveaway that I won last fall. It's been a little while since I read it. It was interesting. I learned a little about how awful mining conditions were. The saddest part was probably learning about the little kids that had to work in the breakers. I love historical fiction.

Here's my #ruralsetting fir #aprilbookshowers This book is highly engaging to 4th & 5th graders- and it gets put on the NC #EBOB reading list every two or three years.

Melwilk This book is great. I teach eighth grade, and this works so well for struggling readers at my grade level. Boys, especially, who hate reading and who have reading difficulties, tend to love this book. 3y
Librarianaut @Melwilk that is awesome! 3y

If you want the epitome of a #RuralSetting, check out this play. It takes place in a small, fictional town in the middle-of-nowhere Kansas. It probably helps that the playwright (who happens to be a close friend of mine) lives in the middle-of-nowhere Kansas. #AprilBookShowers

#ruralsetting This fits well as a computer kid visiting on his cousin's farm. Something about an electronic game he's developing has an influence on driving the animals murderously mad. 😄 I'm looking to reread this one again, remembering it as a really wild chiller. #aprilbookshowers 🐷🐥

#aprilbookshowers #ruralsetting A brilliant Australian #YA series. Plenty of big themes, but it all starts around a rural town. I can still remember the years when everyone at school was OBSESSED with this series!

#ruralsetting #aprilbookshowers I know it's already been done, loved the cover of your copy, @RealLifeReading I was lucky enough to grow up in a place pretty close to the British countryside, at least if you're talking the Southern U.S. Seriously, look up "British West Florida," which actually includes part of Louisiana. Rolling hills, an old Epispocal church, etc.

As I was posting for #ruralsetting for #aprilbookshowers, I couldn't help but turn to my absolute favorite page in this book. Kingsolver's writing is so beautiful and honest, relating truths that few people discuss. #quote
