This has languished on my Audible shelf forever. So I turned it into a prompt for Kiss Your Mate Day. For me, choosing a romance is a **hard** prompt to complete, despite 27 years of happy marriage. So this one, with its topical nature fit the bill well. The MC is a Vietnam vet with trauma who helps an undocumented family and reconnects with a lost love.

So for #booked2022 #makeyourownprompt I will be using the prompt “weirdest Litsy review that made you read a book”. Thank you @rockpools for inspiring my prompt 😂 I hope it lives up to your one sentence review!

rockpools 😂😂😂😂 That‘s so funny! I feel very flattered. And more than a little nervous now. I do hope you like it! 2d
Cinfhen Ohhhh, I can‘t wait to hear your thoughts on this one! And I love your prompt idea!!! 2d

Well, that was an experience.

That‘s it. That‘s my review.

Think I‘ll use this for #Booked2022 #MakeYourOwnPrompt, the prompt either being ‘What the flip was that?!‘ Or ‘Like nothing you‘ve read before‘.

I should add, I did come away from this smiling. It‘s highly entertaining, although what he has to say can be quite cutting. Possibly.

BarbaraTheBibliophage I LOVE that prompt idea!! 3w
TrishB Best review. 3w

Cinfhen Agreed @Ruthiella @BarbaraTheBibliophage @TrishB This was the BEST review followed by the BEST prompt idea!!! Well done, Rachel!! Now I need to decide if I‘m ready to read this book!?!!! 3w
rockpools @TrishB 🤣🤣 Thanks. You might actually like (as in not hate) this one. Just pretend it‘s poetry. Much on the Chilean education system as experienced by people of our age. I‘m really selling it here 😂😂 3w
rockpools @Ruthiella @BarbaraTheBibliophage I completely can‘t imagine what I‘d read if that was a prompt 🤣🤣 3w
rockpools @Cinfhen Morning Cindy! It‘s VERY short, with even fewer words in - and it‘s not ‘Difficult‘ or ‘Challenging‘ - it just requires you to put a bit of work in and read it differently. It made me laugh. 3w
Cinfhen Im VERY intrigued!!! Off to search for it xxx Thanks, Rachel!! Hope you‘re having a lovely day xx 2w
Magpiegem That is the most intriguing review and I must now immediately find and read it 😂 bravo! 2w

I've chosen bks set in the pandemic with this thriller set as Dublin goes into lockdown in March 2022 and two people meet, form an attachment + move in together but something doesn't feel right, which one is deceiving the other. A very enjoyable page turner and tackles that strange period well.

Cinfhen This was a cool pandemic thriller!! Love your creativity 😷 3w

Although I like her books, this isn't my favorite Anne Hillerman. Jim Chee and Bernie Manuelito are separated and working on two different mysteries. Each mystery is interesting but it felt like two books instead of one cohesive story. I'm using this for #Booked2022 #MakeYourOwnPrompt - A favorite author. @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage

Cinfhen Woohoo!!! I love that idea!!! You might see it again next year 😜 4w

I have finished a book!! Though it did take me twice as long as normal🫤 Bk1 of #MarvellousMay #readathon is done. The authors latest novel, it was a standalone & set in the US instead of Ireland. Very diabolical, an unreliable MC & it turns out, unreliable characters everywhere. It‘s very twisty with grey motives abounding all over the place. A very nice read. And my #Bookspin for May #Booked2022 #MakeYourOwnPrompt #BookspinBingo #Pop22

Cinfhen Yay!!!! Glad you‘re getting your #ReadingMoJo back ❤️❤️ 1mo

A retelling of Jane Eyre…so good! I was immediately sucked into the story and was hooked. The characters aren‘t particularly likable, but for this story, that works.

#pop22 - book with a quote from your favorite author on the cover
#booked2021 - make your own prompt {flowers on the cover}

Cinfhen I liked this book and fun prompt choice 🌸🌸🌸 3mo

This is the second book in the Nevernight Trilogy & it was really good. In this one Mia decides her best way to get to Scaeva & Cardinal Duomo is to sell herself to become one of the gladiatii (think Roman gladiators) & then become the champion of the games 🖤

1) Yes, currently reading North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell with the #PemberLittens. Loving it so far.

2) The tagged book was recommended by my Uncle. I intend to read it for Spring #Booked2022 #MakeYourOwnPrompt.

Tagging everyone that wants to play.

We Slaves of Suriname | Anton de Kom
post image

This book is a charge against Holland. And rightly so. My country has abused its power in a scandalous way. Suriname was a Dutch colony where slavery was everywhere until 1863. After that circumstances remained poor for the native population until independence. It‘s a shame how little we still know about this part of our history if you‘re not actively looking for it.

The book itself though is dryly written and it was hard to follow along.

Cinfhen Cool use for #CreateYourOwnPrompt 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 4mo
TrishB I don‘t think you‘re alone in their country abusing it‘s power ☹️ 4mo
