To work or to read? What a silly question.

3.5🌟 #WinterGames #ReadNosedReindeer #ImpulseRead #HolidayRead @StayCurious @Clwojick
This was a quick easy read, written as the Christmas letters some people send instead of cards. Mary wrote the first ones, then her daughter carried on the tradition.

5🌟 #WinterGames #ReadNosedReindeer #TBRRead #HolidayRead @StayCurious @Clwojick
This is an excellent book. The author finds that his Grandfather played Secret Santa during the Great depression, 1933. He advertised in the Canton, OH paper under an alias inviting people to write to him as to their wishes. He handed out $150 in increments of $5 to those he deemed worthy. The letters will touch your heart. This is a book worth reading.

Wow! What a great book! This is the true story of Caitlin and Martin, who became pen pals in middle school, and how that first letter led to a life-changing friendship.

I chose this because I really liked Johnson's Truly Devious and The Vanishing Stair. I don't know if my problem with this one was the writing, the narration, or a combination, but I actually disliked it.

VanChocStrawberry Oh bummer! This series is one of my favorites! 2d
JoyBlue @VanChocStrawberry I'm glad you like it! I recognize that my tastes often seem to fall outside the norm. No matter what, it's our variety that makes life interesting! 💙 2d

I think I would have loved this book if I had read it when I was young. I had a hard time getting through it, almost a year, and initially thought it was because I know the story so well. I love the 4 movie versions I‘ve seen. I like the sisterhood notion in it, but I found the rest puritanical. Every chapter is a lesson to give more and more of oneself to be better ”. https://lithub.com/louisa-may-alcotts-letter-of-advice-to-a-young-writer/

Palimpsest I had formed my opinion long before reading the lit-hub article but it made me feel better that even the author wasn‘t wholeheartedly into it. It‘s nice to be kind to others and as a Bildungsroman grow into good women, but the self-sacrificing was too much, such as Meg having to apologize to John first when they fought. Still going to see the new film this month. 3d

I'm reading the tagged book, and the poem the author quotes struck me as relevant to many of us. I'll be posting review of this Christmas story when done.
