I really enjoyed this Beauty and the Beast retelling with so much more added in. I loved the twists and turns and the added fantasy elements. Definitely one I recommend! Featuring my new socks from the #happilyeverafterswap from @sprainedbrain

I am gutted that I've finished the series 😞😞

Want to go back to the beginning and read them all again.

Snape 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I got so emotional reading that part.

I'm giving this 5 shiny Swords of Gryffindor 🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡

First (possibly only) book finished for #24in48 . I will probably make it to around 10 hours for this #readathon .

I‘m slowly rereading this series and loving it all over again. #H #LitsyAtoZ

Mehso-so

The narrator‘s a loathsome character. An awful man, a womaniser, and a frequent liar. White lies, exaggerated lies, unnecessary lies..just to paint a good picture of himself. Soon he is caught in his own web of lies. I was able to guess some of the things, but am impressed with the twist and neat plotting. And unexpectedly, felt a tinge of sympathy for the a*#h%le character at the end. A nice summer read but not gripping or suspenseful enough.

I know this goes against popular opinion, but I didn‘t love this one. I found some bits funny, but overall just kept checking the time on my audiobook. Fry is an excellent narrator as always, but my mind wondered a lot and then I would have to go back. I‘m glad I read it so I understand the references to it. #LitsyAtoZ #H #GARbingo

Reggie Did you ever watch the movie? The only thing I remember from it is this really nice fluttery piece of music when they get taken to the warehouse of planets. That‘s all. Lol I‘ve never read the book either. 1y
Bookzombie @Reggie No, I haven‘t. I have seen mixed reviews of the movie, but I wonder if I might like that more. Sometimes with sci-if, I‘m more of a movie person. I like a lot of the people in the movie so I may have to find it. 1y

#plottwist This book seemed somewhat predictable by the way Lucy told her story, but the ending still threw me. I was not expecting that! My final thoughts on this are still a bit jumbled. I could relate to Lucy, but I don‘t like her. She seemed to not want to take responsibility for her part in her life. It was as if she let things just happen to her. More in the comments in spoilers. ⬇️ #aprella

Reviewsbylola Lucy‘s treatment of Darren is what really got to me. She villainized him more and more as their relationship went on just to make herself feel better. She wanted him to know she didn‘t like surprises because Gabe would have known, but she never actually told him or explained how she felt in that regard, yet still held it against him every time he surprised her. (edited) 2y
Reviewsbylola And then Darren‘s “affair”. Once again, Lucy wanted a reason to justify her own actions, and once she discovered the truth, her remorse seemed very half hearted. I felt horrible for Darren. Every choice Lucy made about Gabe, I thought to myself about how I would feel if she were my spouse. And the answer was NOT GOOD. So I came out of this thinking Lucy was the worst of the bunch. Because Gabe may have been selfish, but at least he was honest. (edited) 2y
Melissa_J Your thoughts on Darren mirror mine exactly! His treatment is the reason I couldn‘t agree with the ‘epic love story‘ angle, and therefore only rated this as so-so despite being quite the page-turner. I do agree that you could somewhat relate to Lucy as in some ways I could relate to her too. 2y

Reviewsbylola She basically penalized him for not being Gabe. And I kept expecting her to have an epiphany or to feel remorse but she never really did. She only seemed to be sorry for herself and Gabe. @Melissa_J 2y
