August 2025 Book #12

Beautiful cover but this novel didn‘t work for me. I found it so boring. Even with a good premise and interesting character, well at the beginning I struggled to finish it. I have found that when you have more than one author in a novel there is a disconnection if that is the correct word. I didn‘t see like an integration in the story. It was like reading chunks of different stories. It didn‘t feel like the same tone⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) Definitely, didn‘t work for me 2.5⭐️

June 2025 Book#4

This is the second book I read by this author. Loved it. If you like nature/climate changes as novel theme, written in a slow pace, character driven, then this novel can work for you but it is a sad story. I can understand people who doesn‘t like it because it could be categorized as tragic. But I read the physical book with audiobook with Saskia Maarleveld as one of the narrator and I felt in love with writing style and story⬇️

Gissy (Cont.).. This narrator has a beautiful, delightful voice that mesmerize me in the story, soft, calm,👌There is something in this author‘s stories that I love but it is extremely slow pace. One of my favorites reading in 2025❤️4.5/5⭐️ (edited) 1w

May 2025 Book #5

This book came in a subscription box in 2022😱It was interesting since it is set in Ecuador in 1920‘s I enjoyed it. It has a touch of mystery and suspense. Puri traveled to Ecuador personifying her dead husband to claimed her inheritance but she is not welcomed and things happens and secrets start to happen. Maybe not realistic, cheesy romance but I liked Puri character and all the drama that occurred in this cocoa plantation.

Gissy 3.5/3.75⭐️ I will like to read something else by this author.

This thriller was a page turner with its many twists. But the end was not as I expected, maybe rush or too simple. But it kept me reading. 3/3.5 ⭐️

March 2025 Book #6
This is the second book in Tuya (All Yours) duology. Liked it but not loved it. The beginning was so slow and it was about flies if you have any kind of phobia with this insect, this book is not for you. It was interesting to know about this insect but this is not a nonfiction book. You will hate Inés who has l, let‘s say a different personality😬but half way of the book, it changed and kept attention with good twists⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) The title in English is The Time of the Flies. 3/3.5⭐️I still like this author writing style. She describes so well the characters, she gives you the psychological dynamic of their thinking process. For me she has this existentialist touch in her novels, mostly unlikeable characters. I have a couple of her books all in Spanish. I hope it is not banned to read in Spanish 😂I know… showing my sarcastic side 😊

March 2025 Book #5
I own like three special editions of this book because they are beautiful and I thought I would love this book. This book has mixed reviews. I‘m in the side of very disappointed team. The writing style is so different of what I use to read by this author, it was like someone else wrote it. The premise is so interesting but I found it extremely boring. Maybe because I was expecting action, intrigue, I don‘t know something else⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) It didn‘t work for me, sorry for the fans☺️2 ⭐️ What I am going to do with all these editions? Don‘t know yet, they are so beautiful and I really like this author but this one was not for me😬For now they still live in my shelf😊

March 2025 Book #4
I really enjoyed this book about two families and the matriarchal way to raise their families. So different. During my reading I was mad with Mrs Willoughby and more in the side of Mrs. Fowler. But then you follow each family, their sons and daughters through their lives and you will understand each side of the story. This is really a story about family dynamics and each and changes in each generation. So well written and⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) so well described. Loved it. 4.5⭐️
I‘m late @Leahbergen in my #PersephoneClub2025 and 2024😂But I will read them eventually because I‘m enjoying each book so much. And…I love my Persephone editions.😍

Gissy @rubyslippersreads I‘m currently reading a book from last year list Harriet. I eventually will read them but I‘m a slow reader and I wanted to read so many books from different challenges that I know I will be behind from the rest of the group☹️But I can‘t read faster😫 2mo
