When Hazel needs help w/ the mythical creatures seeking refuge in Camp Jupiter, Nico & Will jump to help. They discover the ripples of their journey into Tartarus have spread farther than they thought, & someone really doesn‘t like the change.

Fantastic follow up! I loved the continuation of change vs stagnation & the power of choosing your future, loved the cacodemons, loved seeing more of Hazel, & all the mythics were so interesting.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

“The baby kicked like a demon.”

She is a housewife. He is an actor. The spacious, sun-filled apartment in Manhattan‘s Upper West Side is their dream home—a dream that turns into an unspeakable nightmare...

This book is hard to put down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

willaful Oh, I haven't read those so I didn't notice! 19h
PuddleJumper @willaful It's a similar idea - medium and a scientist and haunted houses. It's 1900s maybe. There were some nice throwbacks to inventions and ideas that were in those books. I wonder if it's the same universe 19h
Faranae @willaful I need to give that series another try myself. One of the MCs acts kind of transphobically in the first book, and gets better about it, but it hit different before Hawk came out as trans and I think I could read it with more generosity now. 15h

A book detailing the life & disappearance of explorer Hubert Darrell in 1910. Although he was respected by people such as Roald Amundsen for his feats in crossing uncharted areas of the Northwest Territories alone & on foot, after his disappearance his name has largely faded into history. So what actually happened to Darrell?

OutsmartYourShelf Wow, I loved this! I'd never heard of Hubert Darrell before reading this but something about the synopsis drew me in & I'm so glad it did. I enjoyed every moment of reading it. It has everything: painstaking research, a great writing style that packs lots of information into text that never becomes dry to read, & even the author's own travels following in Darrell's footsteps. 1d
OutsmartYourShelf Several years ago I read & enjoyed one of the author's earlier books (Beyond the Trees), & I would say that Vanished Beyond the Map surpasses it. I am absolutely certain that I will reread this one in years to come. 5🌟

My thanks to #NetGalley & publishers, Penguin Random House Canada (Adult)/Allen Lane, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

I'm going to miss Jack's adventures. The last book I started in September. I'm glad that @OutsmartYourShelf is flexible with #SPNBookBingo2025. This might be reaching, but ...you can't ignore the number.

OutsmartYourShelf I'm as flexible as I can be & I would accept this book for 'Crossroads', or 'Fake ID' as the British Army was used as law enforcement at times in the 18th century. Would that work? 1d
Butterfinger @OutsmartYourShelf I will keep it under 666 if that's okay. Look closely, that's how many pages it had. 15h
Butterfinger Fake ID would certainly work because Jack became a spy. 15h
OutsmartYourShelf @Butterfinger I get it, it just doesn't fit with the haunted hotel/motel element - if the main character stayed in an old, feasibly haunted, inn then I could be persuaded. 4h
OutsmartYourShelf @Butterfinger Exactly, so I think Fake ID would be better. 4h

Another very fun entry into the series, but also a very poignant one. Amidst many of our favorite characters falling or remaining happily in love--except poor Joyce, who probably wants it more than anyone--devoted friendship is the true core of the story. Made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes, what more can you ask for.

When Vimes is sent as diplomat to the coronation of the new Low King of the Dwarves, he isn‘t planning on investigating. But there‘s a stolen holy relic & an attempted assassination, so Vimes does what Vimes does best.

This was an intense one! The ripples of Cheery‘s life has spread, there‘s a lot more political intrigue, & Sybil really gets to shine! & a thoughtful condemnation of using tradition as a means of subjugation & control.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
