I absolutely love this series, and the addition of Grace is awesome! We are huge Joe Ide fans at the bookstore, and I can't wait to read more books about IQ! #Recomendsday

Friendship, family, identity, Star Trek, and really good tea... This YA is not what I expected. For one, romance does not play a role (which is surprisingly refreshing). Main character, Darius is figuring out where he fits, and he struggles with depression. However, the book manages to uplift and makes you want to hug a teenager (or your teenage self).

It Ends With Us | Colleen Hoover
post image

I‘m looking for recommendations for authors similar to Colleen Hoover! I‘ve read It Ends With Us and Without Merit so far and loved them both! I plan to read he others but they only have a few on audio at the library and I‘m in the mood to listen to more books like hers right now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!! #Recomendsday #Suggestions

vkois88 She is good friends with Tarryn Fisher. KA Tucker is phenomenal... I loved the Ten Tiny Breaths Series. Jamie McGuire has pretty decent books as well 6y
Chasing_Pages Thank you for the recommendations, I‘m going to look them all up!! @vkois88 6y
vkois88 You're welcome 💗💗 6y

LauraBeth Have you read any books by Amy Harmon? Also - Katja Millay. And 6y
Purrfectpages I‘d second Jamie McGuire. Maybe some Abbi Glines? I‘m blanking, but I know there‘s more. I‘d be curious to know, too ! 6y
Chasing_Pages @LauraBeth No I haven‘t, thanks for the recommendations! I‘ll be looking them up! 6y
Chasing_Pages @Purrfectpages Thanks, I‘ll look them up. I just love Hoover‘s books so far. I really like that there‘s a touch of romance to them but the stories are so powerful that it‘s not typical romance. If that makes since 😂 6y

Hey friends I really enjoyed this book, and I‘m looking for something similar to follow it up with. It was very much a political techno thriller slash sci fi type thing, and I‘ve never really read anything like it before. I thought I‘d see if there were any #recommendations about! #scifi #technothriller #recomendsday picture of newly shaven Georgia for attention grabbing 😅❤️ #dogsoflitsy

Jabberwocky Also @TheKidUpstairs my friend can‘t get enough Carmen post. She is loving the book but is also horrified that she didn‘t understand gay conversion in the first place. She thought it was more Christian summer camp 😅 6y

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Will ponder and get back to you! Plus I gotta agree with @Soubhiville That book rules! 6y
Soubhiville Also, as a groomer I gotta say your pup looks great! I bet she smells nice too. ❤️🐶 6y
Jabberwocky @Soubhiville Thank you! She was just a mass of curls when we took her in and we almost didn‘t recognize her when they brought her out 😅 6y
TheKidUpstairs @Jabberwocky I'm so glad that she enjoyed the book, and that it helped her to understand! 6y

I Was Just Wondering | Philip Yancey

So I know this is a little out there, but a (straight) friend of mine can‘t comprehend how wrong gay conversion camps/therapies are. Does anybody he know of any books/ memoirs about these kind of camps? I don‘t think she‘s lacking empathy I think she just doesn‘t quite understand... #recomendsday #queerbooks #recommendations

Jabberwocky (I have googled, I‘m just wondering if anyone has read something good they‘d want to share) 6y
Jess7 I‘ll tag some of the librarians and people who read a wide array of books - one of them may know the answer to your question - @Chelleo @TheLibrarian @MrBook @LibrarianRyan @BarbaraTheBibliophage 6y

TheKidUpstairs I'd be happy to send Cameron Post out to you, if you want to share it with your friend! 6y
LibrarianRyan This book was previewed in Rolling Stone. (edited) 6y
LibrarianRyan I haven't honestly read any of these books but it was a list suggested by a friend. @Jess7 6y
TheLibrarian I was going to suggest Boy Erased (which @LibrarianRyan already tagged). There was a Criminal Minds episode about one of these camps. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Thanks for the tag @Jess7 - I‘m honored to be in this group of librarians and diverse topic readers. I don‘t have a lot to add to the suggestions, @Jabberwocky but I‘d encourage you to read the reviews and posts here on Litsy. I just went through them for Boy Erased, and people wrote some meaningful thoughts. That‘s what I love about this community! 💕 6y
Jabberwocky @BarbaraTheBibliophage @TheLibrarian @LibrarianRyan Thank you all so much for the suggestions! I am planning a used bookstore trip on Thursday so I will have my eyes peeled! @TheKidUpstairs If I can‘t find a copy here in the next couple days I will 100% take you up on that offer! 6y
Jabberwocky @TheKidUpstairs if you are still wanting to do this I would love to take you up on this offer!! I can ship it back to you once she‘s done reading it! (Actually I‘ll probably read it as well 😅) 6y
TheKidUpstairs @Jabberwocky I'll send it out this week! I think I've still got the email with your address from the tote swap. I've read and enjoyed it, so don't worry about sending it back 😁 6y
Jabberwocky @TheKidUpstairs what! That‘s very generous of you! 💖 if you need my address again just let me know! Thank you!! 6y

Ender's Game | Orson Scott Card
post image

So I‘m not usually one for photo challenges but I couldn‘t resist. My #belovedseries for #bookriot is the Ender Saga. These books are filled with action, morality, childhood, colonial and post colonial, and war and peacetime motifs. Other than a little more queer and racial representation (which I imagine exists, if one reads between the lines) I think the saga has everything you need. 💛

Carrie | Stephen King

Hey Littens! I'm a Stephen King virgin and I'm looking to give him a whirl. And seeing as it's #recomendsday I thought I'd see what you all thought. So, what do you think? (Just a note, I absolute cannot handle true "Cormac McCarthy The Road" apocalytica). #suggestions #stephenking #suggestions #horror

kendrastephaniekaryn Carrie and Joyland are both pretty mild but engaging! If you're looking for really scary stuff, I recommend IT or Pet Sematary! 7y
Jabberwocky @kendrastephaniekaryn thank you!! I'll definitely check those out! 7y
Bookish_AF Saw this while browsing Stephen King posts and would love to offer some suggestions! The Shining and Misery are among my faves for his more traditional horror. If you want less horror, go with The Green Mile or 11/22/63 (this one is gigantic though!). For some of his most recent stuff I really enjoyed Revival and the detective trilogy (starts with Mr. Mercedes). Enjoy!! 7y
