This is books that have older protagonists. Remember, there isn‘t a single Litten old enough to qualify as “older” 😉🤫🤗.

Close-up 2/2.

Have you read any of these?!

j9brown Where the Red Fern Grows was the first book I can remember making me actually cry as I read it. I think it would still get me if I picked it up again! 4y
Andrew65 Read 5 of these. 4y
cherinium I've read 8 of those for sure and there's one I'm not sure about. I do agree that those are all capable of bringing tears. This one will choke you up for sure if you have a heart for elephants and their plight. I almost couldn't finish the book, because I was crying so hard. 4y

With #ReadWithMrBook‘s February prompt being #TearJerker, I thought I‘d re-share my introductory book list of year-jerkers! 😊

The first-half of my list! 😊

Have you read any of these and concur? Any A-L suggestions you would add?

#LitsyLovesLibraries #MrBooksLists

Beatlefan129 When I read this one I sobbed like a baby: 4y
ravenlee I never thought about Crime and Punishment being a tearjerker. 4y
Scochrane26 The art of racing in the rain—cried in my car to the audiobook 4y
See All 20 Comments
Butterfinger Why is Anne considered a tearjerker? Or are the three asterisks for the series? I know the last one in the series (Rilla of Ingleside) was pitiful? 4y
Butterfinger I definitely cried with the Book Thief and Anne Frank's Diary? I need to clarify. I didn't understand why Anne of Green Gables was sad? 4y
TheSpineView 4 on this list. 4y
rwmg 5 4y
BookNAround @Butterfinger When Matthew dies, I bawled like a baby. 4y
BookNAround My spoiler above is for Anne of Green Gables. 4y
Butterfinger I had forgotten @BookNAround thank you. This may have to be my choice. Apparently, it has been too long. 4y
LiteraryinLawrence What do the asterisks mean? 4y
MrBook @LiteraryinLititz , great question! It signifies that the book is an installment in a series. I usually try to pick the first book in the series, but sometimes based on the theme I‘ll pick one that falls somewhere else. I have to rely on many others for this one since I haven‘t read it (yet 😉), but the Harry Potter example is a very popular criteria choice for this particular list. (edited) 4y
MrBook @Butterfinger , I haven‘t read Anne since I was a kid, but the entire series came up regularly as such. Perhaps it‘s her situation, and perhaps later installments made readers more sad? 4y
Butterfinger @MrBook I had forgotten. This is definitely my choice. I am going to reread it. I feel like an idiot. 4y
MrBook @Butterfinger , idiot thou art not nor hath been nor shall be. 🤗 4y
Hooked_on_books I don‘t think Anna Karenina is a tear-jerker. For me, if there‘s a dog, and the dog dies, I cry. Where the Red Fern Grows was probably the first one that did that to me. Seventh grade, I believe. 4y
GatheringBooks should definitely be in there 4y
Andrew65 Read 4 of these. 4y
cherinium I've read 6 of these. It's funny,I never realized I was such a reader of sad books... 😭 4y
EadieB I‘ve read 11 of these! 4y

New book list 😊! This has books that focus on the multi-generational story of a family or connected families. As always, it‘s only introductory, the three asterisks signify it‘s part of a series, and the list is focused on what‘s available to patrons from my library‘s shelves.

Close-up 1/4 of my #FamilySaga list. Have you read any of these?!
