Sisterhood, soccer, sacrifice. This book thrusts you right into the action from the start, then unfurls into an emotional journey. It was mostly enjoyable, but I did feel bored at times. I love the book cover! #reesesbookclub 🎧

This book had a cool juxtaposition of traditional and modern elements and I liked how it explored stories - how to preserve them, who can share them, and when to consider a reframe of our well-trodden personal narratives. However, it felt slow to me and I just couldn‘t really get into it. #reesesbookclub🎧
📚I made a stack of books that my sister and I are going to try to read together this year.
🐕 Bombadil helped.
🧙🏻The Book of Magic (anyone know if I need to read Magic Lessons first?)
✨ Where the Forest Meets the Stars
🤠 Outlawed
❤️ The Invisible Hour
👻 The Cliffs

This was a fine story, it just didn‘t really end up being my cup of tea. #reesesbookclub 🎧

Prepare for your next book hangover! I was so wrapped up in this I was looking for excuses to keep listening. It has all the ingredients for a hit - a love triangle, a murder trial, an atmospheric setting, a show stopping ending. What I think elevates it, though, is the emotional depth and moral ambiguity. “Broken Country” offers fertile ground for discussion! 🎧 #reesesbookclub

A harrowing tale of survival, all the more affecting since it‘s a fictional account of real events. It‘s striking that Marguerite wasn‘t exactly safe as a woman in her time even when she wasn‘t stranded on a remote island. I thought the time on the island was the most gripping. 🎧 #reesesbookclub

This is the kind of storytelling that‘s easy to get swept up in as it carries you along its narrative tide. The way there were multiple POVs (and multiple audiobook narrators) was really well done. 🎧 #reesesbookclub

A harrowing read on an important topic, but it seems to be written for a Western audience and lacked nuance. 🎧 #reesesbookclub
If I‘m judging by August, September is almost over but here‘s my tbr for the month anyway:

History, mediums, and sobriety, oh my! This is a fresh take on an intergenerational story that uncovers the women‘s lives who have lived in one place over time. It isn‘t a new favorite for me, but I was engaged and enjoyed it overall. 🎧 #reesesbookclub
