I‘ve never read any fiction by Ann Patchett, but mostly enjoyed this nonfiction essay collection. I liked her writing about marriage, divorce, her grandmother, and her dog the best. 🎧 #reesesbookclub

Our Missing Hearts | Celeste Ng

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I‘ve heard Celeste Ng describe this book as our current reality with the volume dialed up, which made it feel especially unsettling and chilling. It‘s a thoughtful exploration of the way stories and art can remind us of our humanity and impact change. It brings up important discussion topics, but the story itself was a little slow and was missing a spark for me personally. 🎧 #reesesbookclub

SamAnne Great review. I just returned to the library because I knew I couldn‘t get to it. Need to get back into the queue. (edited) 4w
ICantImReading @SamAnne thank you! Ahh that‘s a bummer, but I hope you enjoy it when it comes back around! 🥰 4w

4⭐️ I read this for my library #bookclub for October and I quite enjoyed it. I liked that the main character was a fairly strong character and was very aware of the limitations that not only being female but also separated from her husband put on her. #2022 #bookreview #bookstagram #historicalfiction #india #fiction #reesesbookclub

Although I probably would have enjoyed this more if I were in my early twenties, this is a fun collegiate romance. Kiki‘s voice is sharp and witty and her chemistry and banter with Kai are great. The audiobook narration really enhanced the story and brought the characters to life! 🎧 #reesesbookclub

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With one of the most unique and fun concepts for a thriller that I‘ve read in awhile, I loved journeying backward through time with the protagonist as she attempts to piece together how to save her son from committing a murder. It‘s clever and twisty, but equally thought-provoking and heartfelt, exploring destiny, second chances, unconditional love, and supernatural hysterical strength. Don‘t miss this one! 🎧 #reesesbookclub

4.5⭐️ I really enjoyed reading this for #lmpbc and taking the time to take stock of the book. With the current political climate in the United States, I couldn‘t help but think of the similarities between now and the late 1930s. Am looking 4ward 2 seeing what my other group members think of it. Will be sending it in the mail to the next person sometime this week. #2022 #bookreview #bookstagram #historicalfiction #greatdepression #fiction

I really don't even know how to feel about this book. This was my follow-up choice right after reading Verity, maybe that was the mistake. Verity was so crazy, unpredictable, and twisted that I was expecting that again. We Were Never Here was a little too predictable for me and the story line drug a bit for me. The characters were incredibly unlikable and a little annoying.

It wasn't awful, just not what I wanted/needed.

4.5⭐️ It took me about half of the book to really get into the book, but once I got past that halfway point, I really got into it. I liked how the author built up to what happened and the fallout from what happened. I also liked the time jumping in the book and how efficient it was used. I‘m inadvertently on a female con artist kick this month! This quick read tackles the world of luxury goods, the model minority myth, and the American Dream. It‘s definitely bingeable, but I wanted more from it in the end. I think the TV show will be a lot of fun to watch! 🎧 #reesesbookclub
