Oh my goodness! These #WinterSolsticeSwap #WSS packageS arrived yesterday! 👏🏽❄️👏🏽🌚👏🏽

Also received the bottom 2 books from #ReesesBookClub — both sound really good!

And finished the 3 graphic novels!
Ghosts was cute and sweet 👍🏽
Witchy had promise, but felt like mostly world-building and not much else… 👌🏽
The Girl From the Other Side was pretty and dark and very well done & intriguing! Will read more 👍🏽

Chrissyreadit I agree 100% about Witchy 6d
Avanders @Chrissyreadit so frustrating too.. so much potential! 5d

Reading about a food competition reality show is right up my alley! Expect lots of family feuding, an uplifting ending, and a strong craving for fried chicken! 🎧 #reesesbookclub

I was excited to listen to this gothic fantasy romance before Halloween, but it didn‘t really do it for me. It was atmospheric and haunting, but I wasn‘t a fan of the insta-love and thought the magic could have been explained better. Maybe it was just a little too YA for me? 🎧

ChaoticMissAdventures I agree, I had so much hope for this but it just fell flat. 1mo
ICantImReading @ChaoticMissAdventures ah I‘m sorry you felt that way too, but it always feels validating when someone else feels similarly haha 1mo

The beginning of this book really drew me in, but my interest soon fizzled out. It felt a bit melodramatic and overloaded with issues. I did enjoy the setting and the Mexican-American representation. 🎧 #reesesbookclub

I was filled with slow-building anxiety and dread while reading this, but couldn‘t look away! It‘s a psychological thriller that‘s both pulse-pounding and thought-provoking; a chilling look at toxic friendship and power with razor-sharp insight to how the world tries to keep women‘s lives small and fearful.

I would love to hear what others think about the ending - I‘ll post my spoiler thoughts in the comments! #reesesbookclub #BOTM

ICantImReading I‘ve been mulling over the ending, and here‘s my take on it: I don‘t think they‘re planning on killing anyone; I think Emily has just harnessed her inner power. “Joan” allows her to shed her fearful, obedient, “Midwestern nice” persona. She now knows that if danger arises, she can handle herself, so she can let go of her fear and be free. 3mo
BookwormAHN I was also thinking that they may have been scared that someone would recognize their names. 3mo
ICantImReading @BookwormAHN that‘s a good thought! Of all the fake names to pick... LOL 3mo

Infinite Country: A Novel | Patricia Engel

A testament to our common humanity, the duality of immigration, and that the most important part of the place you call home is the people who share it with you. The narrator reveal and switch to a first-person perspective later on felt clunky and the writing style made me feel a bit emotionally distant. However, this slim novel gives readers a lot to think about, has many beautiful lines, and is well worth the time. #reesesbookclub

This story crawled under my skin. Multiple passages felt like a gut punch. My heart would race, break, and yearn along with Elle‘s. I had no idea how it would end, or even how I wanted it to end, which speaks to its deeply layered, painful, and beautiful complexity. It won‘t be for everyone (check trigger warnings), but for me, it was pure magic! #reesesbookclub
