A contemporary chick lit where Felicia, an unsecured, immature character constantly take bad decisions that jeopardized her marriage, her emotional and physical security…and you, as a reader, will feel frustrated and mad during all this drama. Male figures here are terrible, abusive. Sexual abuse was minimized by family. Maybe the ending was a small step for Felicia start to grow up. Maybe this was the part that I liked⬇️

pickI love books with a strong sense of place, and this one did not disappoint. The author did a wonderful job of depicting life on a remote island, complete with island traditions, food, and a cast of quirky characters. This setting, along with the growth in confidence of the main character, a bit of romance, and the revelation of some long-buried secrets made for a very enjoyable read.

so-soI did skim parts of the first of the book, so I did miss a few things. I liked one thing that happened, when so many novels would go the other way. I think I liked it because the author made sure that the reader understood, whereas so many other books wouldn‘t go into it. I also liked the ecological slant to the story (though that wasn‘t explored in a lot of detail, but it still appealed to me).
I‘m really looking forward to traveling to the glorious fictional island of Tuga for #FictionalTraveler this month! What will everyone else be reading for the #Island prompt?

pickIt's a story about families and all the messy and beautiful ways they are formed. This was a quick read, and while I am conflicted about India, the mc, I loved the kids and their voices. This was my March #Bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
