I have to give this a thumbs up based on it‘s reputation. The truth is, I find this whole series just so so. This is just my personal taste at play here and I don‘t want to be lukewarm about a book that is so loved from a series that is so loved. I guess there‘s no accounting for my taste. 🤙

jdiehr I always felt like I should love these books more than I do as well 29m

1) A break from the humidity, how beautiful the snow looks (if we get any), and the restful quiet.

2) The tagged classic! Quintessential Winter!

“We want cattle who can finally become food; He wants servants who can finally become sons. We want to suck in, He wants to give out. We are empty and would be filled; He is full and flows over.”

I have had this book for 35+ years and finally read it!

This book didn‘t age as well as the ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe‘, however it served it‘s purpose as a much needed palate cleanser. Good to see Susan, Edmund, and Lucy again. Always a joy!
3.75/5 stars.

Such an interesting look at how CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien‘s experiences in WWI and their friendship influenced their writing. It also talked about the rise of the fantasy genre post-WWI. The time spent discussing Christianity did surprise me but that‘s my fault for not reading the subtitle.

Starting this palate cleanser. Much needed after such an intense read :cough:Babel:cough: I‘m reading these in publication order not chronologically so this is book #5 for me!

My Sunday is very, very cold and wet today!

Generally speaking, I associate fantasy with my childhood. My dad read to me and my sisters every night until we moved into a house with bedrooms for all of us.

But specifically, the tagged book and the whole series. I can‘t read them myself now without hearing his voice in my head. ❤️

#SundayFunday Have a great day and don‘t forget to tag me in your posts!
