The ending isn‘t as strong as the beginning (I‘m finding that to be a theme with so many books lately), but still an overall fun horror read. An adult book but leans more YA, so nothing nightmare inducing happens. It had the potential to be much better.
I was intrigued by the premise when this first came out last year, but the Goodreads reviews scared me off a lil bit. I think it‘s like with slasher movies: they‘re not for everybody. I love me a good slasher creature feature and this delivered. There were gays, there was a pretty horrifying creature, and there was commentary about the economy and classism which feels particularly apt right now with the strikes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
