Listening to this one now! So far it's pretty good.
This book was WAY too long. It was also highly predictable. I felt they should have trimmed it a bit since I wasn't reading it weekly.
3 stars- This book was a bit dry, the narrator had too soothing of a voice and the book just sort of turned to background noise. I liked the parallels between Antebellum times and the current social/political climate. Learning about a con man I hadn't heard of was interesting.
I received an audioARC from the publisher through Netgalley, all views are my own.
2.75 stars, The narrator wasn't great, and the ending was unsatisfactory. It was just overall a meh book. I did like the parallels between today's pandemic & the Spanish flu. But other than that it just fell flat. The characters were okay, but a bit flat. Only the one MC was really explored at all. There were too many unanswered questions at the end.
At some points I LOVED this book, at others I cringed. It was hilarious but in some of the love/sex scenes, the language was SOO over the top. I laughed instead of thinking it was sexy/sweet. I've never seen Shicht Creek, and maybe that's just not my thing. But I did enjoy the book. The narrator was pretty good although she mispronounced some words—overall a decent book.
3.25 stars- this one was okay, it felt like they tried to put too much into too short of a book. It felt rushed. I also don't know if there's a spin-off series only in Swedish, but the ending just seemed to not really be a full ending to a series.
This book took me 20 days to finish! Not because it was bad, but because of my ADHD. It was overall a good book. I liked the characters though I would have liked more of Cassie, and the way it was left I hope there's a sequel so we can learn more about the powers some of the characters have! I also would have liked more of Hayden's mom!
3.75 stars- I had figured out the murder in present-day pretty early on, but the past murders I didn't figure out. I liked the parallels to true crime stories. As well as the criticism of the racism in the US justice system. It was overall a good book, but not spectacular. Another great narrator!
4.25 stars- excellent narrator! This book was very informative and also funny. I thought it was interesting that this subject interested her because of her father's childhood. I loved learning about the language of fanaticism! She made it very interesting!
5 stars- This book was amazing, the ex-in-laws provided much-needed comic relief. I loved that both MCs were in their late 30s-mid-40s and the female MC was plus-sized. I also loved that it tackled some hard topics. But was still in the end a fun romance. I liked that the MCs were teachers! My mom was a teacher so I know what a hard job that is.
4 stars- It was interesting to read this. I never realized how much work black hair was! Make me feel bad for complaining about mine. I liked getting a look inside the characters' lives. I'd like another book on these characters as I felt there wasn't enough about some of them.
3.25 stars- The narrator was amazing, and overall the story was good. But I knew who the killer was very early on. I didn't know how or the why, but I knew it. So I did like finding out the how and why, plus I thought the MC being pregnant at the time of the time when the story starts to be interesting, added an extra element. But overall just meh.
4.5 stars- The narrator was amazing! I loved the fun, witty way the book was written and it made what could have been a dry book, thoroughly enjoyable. I also liked how she went into some of the motivations of the women. Overall a very fun and informative book.
I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley, all thoughts are my own.
3.75 stars- I enjoyed this book, but parts were predictable, I guessed what “the chalice“ was about 1/3 of the way through the book. Also, why do all mysteries now seem to leave it open for a sequel? I did like the characters and most of the ending. Overall it was a good book.
3.5 stars, The narrators were amazing! It was interesting at parts but dragged at the beginning. It also was infuriating at parts, but since it's a true story, that couldn't be changed. But I did like the strong woman element a lot.
5 stars- I LOVED this ode to friendship-love. I agree with the message wholeheartedly although I'm not aromantic or asexual. Life is just as fulfilling with loving friendships as it is with a partner. So this was a great book for me and I think it has a great message for everyone, old and especially young!
4.5- as always hilarious and funny, well still being emotional. The plot twist got me, she had me going on one train of thought as to what was going on. And I also appreciated another plot twist not part of the main plot as much. I loved the characters! And how they're diverse despite the time period. I would have liked more of Lord Ackaldama though since he wasn't actually in the book only mentioned.
This was a really good look at the birth of modern forensics. Heinrich was unlikable to me. I felt like he spoiled his sons too much. But the science part was interesting. As were the cases he helped to “solve“. I also loved the epilogue that pointed out the flaws in both his and some modern forensics and the parts throughout the book that did so. 4.5 stars, I really enjoyed this book! I'm working my way through Agatha Christie's work so this was extra fun. I didn't figure out the who-dun-it until later in the book, which is always a plus. I appreciate the domestic abuse part of the book as well. It added another layer to the book as did Alice's disappearance mystery. I also loved most of the characters. I really hope that there's a sequel, as the ending seemed open to that!

4.25 stars- I liked the commentary on the current social climate around sexual assault and the dig at Brett Kavanaugh 😂. I didn't like how they portrayed the girl who was out of eating disorder treatment as “insufferable“. When the main characters had their own sort of eating disorder. But overall it was a great book.
I LOVED this as I loved all of this series. I love how the book makes fun of itself. And the humor in general. Though some of it's very sexual, some of it is just about fandoms and such. I also liked that this one had Price Justin as the MC. Michael was an AMAZING narrator as always!
