The Witching Place: A Fatal Folio (A Curious Bookstore Cozy Mystery—Book 1)
The Witching Place: A Fatal Folio (A Curious Bookstore Cozy Mystery—Book 1) | Sophie Love
19 posts | 16 read | 4 to read
“The perfect romance or beach read, with a difference: its enthusiasm and beautiful descriptions offer an unexpected attention to the complexity of not just evolving love, but evolving psyches. It's a delightful recommendation for romance readers looking for a touch more complexity from their romance reads.” --Midwest Book Review (For Now and Forever) THE WITCHING PLACE: A FATAL FOLIO is the debut novel in a charming new cozy mystery series by bestselling author Sophie Love, author of The Inn at Sunset Harbor series, a #1 Bestseller with over 200 five-star reviews. When Alexis Blair, 29, is fired from her book publishing job and breaks up with her boyfriend on the same day, she wonders if life is urging her to make a fresh start. She decides it’s time to pursue her lifelong dream of opening a bookstore of her own—even if that means leaving Boston and accepting a job in a curious bookstore in a small seaside town an hour away. But the odd shop, Alexis soon learns, is from more than just a rare, occult bookstore. Something strange is going on in the shop’s secret back room, with its eccentric owner, and in the small town itself. And when a dead body appears, Alexis, with her beloved newfound cat, may find herself right in the middle of it all. A page-turning cozy, rife with the supernatural, mystery, secrets and love—and centered around a small town as odd and endearing as its shop—A CURIOUS BOOKSTORE will make you fall in love and keep you laughing out loud as you turn pages late into the night. “The romance is there, but not overdosed. Kudos to the author for this amazing start of a series that promises to be very entertaining.” --Books and Movies Reviews (For Now and Forever) Books #2-#5 are also available!

Book 26📚 3âï¸

A shorter novella - wish there was a bit more to it or more on the backstory but a good quick read overall.

Another book finished for #Scarthlon #TeamWhoYaGonnaCall. I'm glad I only paid $1 for this audiobook on Chirp. Sometimes you get what you pay for. It took over 50% of the story to finally get to the murder and the MC was a bit of an idiot throughout the whole thing. I will not be continuing on to book 2. At least I got 115 points for following all the way to the end.

Just finished That Time I Got Drunk And Saved A Demon last night. Now on to this one. I am hoping to get this done before June starts, which i think is doable. Maybe even get another one done also. May has been rockin' it on the reading for me. YAY!

Gabbymags123 Looks cool what‘s this book about? Love the cover!! 11mo
AkashaVampie @Gabbymags123 a woman losing her job and boyfriend on same day, then gets a job at a weird bookstore. That's all I've gotten to so far. 11mo

This was a cute cozy about a woman who gets a job in an occult book store and then has a murder to solve. The cover unfortunately, really has nothing to do with the book.

Didn‘t love it and didn‘t hate. Mostly it felt underdeveloped and the MC was a bit too naive. The title implies certain plot points that don‘t really come to fruition which was disappointing. I‘d try book two to see if it gets better.

I have mixed feelings about this book… it was cute and easy to read but there was something about it that I didn‘t love. It is the first in a series and I do feel that it has potential to be great so maybe I will read more of them!

I had fun both matching my bookmark and booksleeve with the book and reading this #cozymystery . It‘s not a favorite- but it was cozy- and this week needed a break from sad news, a 50% Senate that refuses to pass H.R. 8, codify a Woman‘s right to health care and pass voting rights. Also, we are in a tornado watch 🤔 Cause Climate Change. I need all the cozy‘s. #cbbc

Gissy Take care with that tornado warning! 2y
The_Book_Ninja How can H.R.8 not pass after those last two atrocities? It‘s sickening 2y
bthegood I'm with you, reading is a great temporary escape! There are more good people than we know, they just aren't always the loudest. Be brave and keep the faith 🤗 2y

@Gissy I wanted to show you how well this book matches the book-sleeve you gave me. The color combination is so satisfying!

Gissy Yes!ğŸ˜im glad you liked it! In general, I enjoyed that book and bought the second one. Thank you for motivated me to participate in the #CBBC! 🥰 I also match the current book I‘m reading with the booksleeve, and bookmark, just for fun. That match add happiness to my reading time🤗 (edited) 2y

Book read for April #CBBC The story is about books. As expected in cozy mysteries there was a murder in a small tow. This time, the murder is connected to a book that seems to have magical properties? or not?🤔Maybe it was a little slow and main character will help to find out what happened. She behaved immature for her age but in general the story was it was ok for me. I‘m enjoying this book club🤗3âï¸

Cute little cozy. Picked it because I really loved the cover. I would most likely continue this series and it was a very light read which... sometimes that's exactly what you need.

The Witching place was a pleasurable read. It is a light whodunnit in true cosy style. Rachel Sage has always wanted to own a second-hand book store like the one her father had when she was a child. Faced with nothing holding her back she decides to move to a little seaside town to work at the Curious Bookstore
The bookstore proves to have its secrets and Rachel is soon in trouble.
