Mama's Curse

My aunt's interview on CNN is on right now as part of the After OJ: The Fuhrman Tapes. She retired a Captain in the Los Angeles Police Department and worked personally with Mark Fuhrman and had to deal with his bigotry, racism and sexism! She mentions this experience in her book (though she doesnt reveal his real name). This interview is very revealing as are these tapes!

I'm choosing a #memorablememoir that is really personal to me. My aunt released her memoir a few months back and it was so well done. There were so many things I didn't know about her life, her struggle, her barriers. She is an African-American woman that rose through the ranks of the Los Angeles Police Department, a breast cancer survivor, a wife, a mother and so much more. This was a well done memoir depicting the journey not just one woman but an entire family. A wife, a mother, a police officer, a cancer survivor, a friend. She speaks on all the different aspects of her life and I found myself easily lost in the pages. Filled with humor, frustration, anger, love and understanding this is a memoir that many people can relate to. I enjoyed it.

Geek moment: That's me!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 There is something so unreal about reading about the life of someone you know and love, that has been an aunt, mentor and friend to you for as long as you can remember. Not to mention the fact that this is pretty damn good! I'm so proud!
