pickThis book kept me guessing, which I love in a thriller. The characters were interesting with a lot of backstory that gave me insight into their thoughts and motivations. I did NOT figure this one out before the end, so I had that *gasp* moment. Looking back, there were definitely clues. so-soThis was somewhere between a soft pick & a so-so for me. I almost DNF ed it after the first few chapters. The characters & the mystery both build really slowly & I didn‘t really get hooked until halfway through. The psychology of the characters is really interesting & is what kept me reading, but they‘re drawn really subtly, almost washed-out, which could have been a stylistic choice, but seemed unnecessary. #Scarathlon2021 #TeamSlaughter +16

Three wives and one dead husband. This is a story of fundamentalist Mormons not to be confused with Mormons. There is some good insight into their beliefs in this story. It kept me guessing who did it. I enjoyed it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

pickBk12 of March & Bk2 of #20in4 is done! And I‘ve hit the 20hr already🙌 This one was a slow burner, I almost gave it up after the first few chapters,then it picked up & hooked me into the story. I‘ve never understood fundamental religion, especially ones that say women are inferior. pickThe book dragged in places and would have benefited from being a bit shorter IMO but I liked getting the POV of all the wives. They were an odd bunch and it was easy to see why they had trouble getting along while their husband was alive. I sympathized with each of them at different points and not all at others. I didn't guess the killer ahead ahead of the reveal and I liked the ending. This is between a pick and so- so for me.
Newt and I have high hopes for this one! 🤞Well... Newt really may be not all that concerned really...

I shouldn‘t be starting another book in the middle of the week, but our #LitsyBookClub discussion is this weekend. I‘ve managed to read a few chapters yesterday and today. I‘m intrigued by the idea of three sister wives each accused of murdering their husband.
As a side note, this spinach salad with onions, mandarin oranges, cranberries, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and teriyaki vinaigrette is my current favorite winter salad. #ReadAndEat

Wow! What a wild, crazy thriller which I absolutely loved!! Every time I thought I had figured out who the killer was, there was a plot twist! Amazing writing by #catequinn! I can‘t wait to discuss this in the #litsybookclub later this month!

pickThis isn't usually my sort of book but I love a mystery so gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. This book does deal with some dark themes like abuse and cults. The story is told in chapters by each wife which I really liked as you learn each ones story. Tina was my favourite through the book. The plot is slow but it builds to a brilliant ending with a clever twist. The ending itself is so well done and just how the book should end. 4*
And Emily, the youngest wife, who knows little else.
When their husband is found dead under the desert sun, the questions pile up.
But none of the widows know who would want to kill a good man like Blake.
Or, at least, that's what they'll tell the police...
This is a book about 3 Mormon wives who marry one man named Blake. It was not what I thought the book was about. 6mo
