I am honestly surprised that given where the fifth volume left off that this last, sixth, volume managed to wrap up the whole series, but it did!
As with any graphic novel series I truly enjoyed, I wish there were more volumes just so I could explore the world further, but I don't think the series is truly in need of another volume given the character arcs and overall plot conflict were all resolved. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality I'm not sure I can say any more without spoilers, but I will definitely continue to investigate any graphic novel series Brian K. Vaughan writes, as he also seems to team up with incredibly talented artists each time.
Overall vibes for those just tuning in: 1980s vintage, sci-fi, time travel, interdimensional era-spanning war more complex than heroes v. villains, confronting mortality, coming of age, coming out, sprinkle of queer love story and feminism.
⚠️Watch out for violence. 2/2

"... but the amount of time we're each given is irrelevant. It's what we choose to do with every second that counts." -- Brian K. Vaughan, Paper Girls vol. 6

Just finished the last volume of this series and although it was quite a brilliant feat to create something that tackled multiple time travel storylines, created a sense of nostalgia, and kept friendship at its core, I still felt a little confused by certain aspects and slightly let down.

The girls are scattered across space and time to 4 different corners of the universe in this final volume. Clones of themselves are trying to reunite the original gang. There‘s an ending. I didn‘t expect I would have so many hopes for the futures of these fictional girls. #graphicnovel

I made it to the end! (We do love it when library holds come in together) - a slightly bittersweet ending to a series that really had it all - in a wonderful, weird and somewhat confusing way.

GypsyKat I haven‘t read the end one yet and I need to! 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @GypsyKat, you should definitely take this as your sign to see if the library has it 3y

Finally caught up on this series!!

This was the final installment in the Paper Girls series, and I have to say I'm glad I gave the series a chance. Despite not absolutely being head over heels for it from the git go, I will say they did a decent job of creating, rounding out, and finishing up this series. I'd recommend it if you enjoy sci-fi adventure type storylines.

Abailliekaras I think this is being made into a tv series. 4y

Ventured into my favorite indie bookstore today. I had some birthday money to spend lol
Some pins that were on clearance, a couple stickers, Out Of Print masks (I could have bought one of each they are so cute!), and I finally got the last 2 Paper Girls. I‘ve read 5 (got it for my brother for Christmas and read it first) but needed it for my collection and haven‘t read 6 yet.

Jen_Reads I saw the other day that Amazon is going to make Paper Girls into a series. 4y

This comic was amazing! I enjoyed all of the crazy time-traveling and space invasion the paper girls experienced. Although, it would have been nice to see the story as a longer series, it might have tarnished the originiality of the characters, and the concept of time-traveling always being a complex topic to put into words.

I'm so sad that this series is over! I wasn't overly impressed with the ending, but I love these characters and this world so much. Great time traveling sci-fi with kick-ass girls and a strong 80s vibe!

Karkar I agree - I also did not care too much with how the ended the series. If I did not like the rest of them so much I was have been really disappointed 😔 4y

I am sad that this series is over now. I enjoyed every minute I spent with these girls. It was quite the ride and that ending was so bittersweet. With Paper Girls over and Saga on a break what do I read now Mr. Vaughan?!

Addison_Reads I haven't finished this series yet, but I've been really enjoying it. Have you read Vaughn's Y:The Last Man series? It's really good too. 4y

It‘s Brian K. Vaughan. The fate of the universe as we know it is at stake. It‘s the 80s—complete with paper girls, Sony‘s Walkman, Halloween, shenanigans and all the good things. And yes, all of this is to say, this is a great comic. I‘ve seen mixed reactions to the final volume but I enjoyed it and thought it was a fitting end to the series. Good story, great art & fantastic colors.

GrilledCheeseSamurai Thought the ending was fine and enjoyed the series as a whole quite a bit. 👍 4y

I can't believe this story is over. Such a good series. Can't wait to see how it turns out as a TV show.

#comics

gallowbraids I see no messaging capability on this app, but I could use a good starting point in beginning sword play from viking raiders. The historical development on their battle styles and etc... 4y
speljamr @gallowbraids I've seen this website: https://www.vikingmartialarts.com/ And I've seen a couple of books on Amazon, but the Vikings didn't leave a written manual. It's mostly from verbally handed down stories and the Viking legends, with a good dose of what we know about axe, shield, and sword play from other traditions. 4y
gallowbraids @speljamr Helpful regardless :] I figured they didn't, but I had read they had some written laws on the construction of shields and helms, was hoping they would have something about their fighting. Thank you very much! 4y

I wasn‘t sure how they‘d ever wrap this one up, but they did and I can‘t believe it‘s over! I‘ll miss this twisted little time-warp back to the future, way future, past, prehistoric past, future again, etc story of friendship and growing up!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Time travel is not my favorite, and it confuses the bejesus out of me, but I like this band of badass young 1980s papergirls and their many iterations. This collected volume is the conclusion of the “The Battle of the Ages” (it‘s a time travelers‘ war, y‘all). I‘m still slightly unsure what transpired, but it‘s clearly unique a story of friendship. Above all, I freaking love the artwork and coloring. It‘s goddamned beautiful.
