Winner of the National Book Award: Considered by many to be the definitive account of the Army-McCarthy hearings, Victor S. Navaskys Naming Names rivetingly documents one of the most shameful eras in American history Drawing on interviews with over one hundred and fifty people who were called to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committeeincluding Elia Kazan, Ring Lardner Jr., and Arthur Milleraward-winning author Victor S. Navasky reveals how and why the blacklists were so effective and delves into the tragic and far-reaching consequences of Joseph McCarthys witch hunts. A compassionate, insightful, and even-handed examination of one of our countrys darkest hours, Naming Names is at once a morality play and a fascinating window onto a searing moment in American cultural and political history.

Bibliophage ... where does it come from and why did I choose it? Here‘s the scoop!

It‘s also become the title of my book blog, www.TheBibliophage.com. And if you subscribe to my email updates, I send you a lovely bibliophage bookmark. (I send internationally also.)

It‘s the initials of my full name, which I use on Facebook in groups. The friends I made there shortened it for me - so much easier to text-type in comments before Facebook created the name fill in! Also TBH I couldn‘t think of a clever book name for myself. Fun fact: many of my friends now write the S as Sassypants. Who am I to argue.

So my Litsy handle is one that I use with all my social media, which is why it‘s not just reading related. I was a Kappa Delta in college and have served on local chapter boards, alumnae groups, etc and my sorority gave me a love for philanthropy that has carried over into my career. I am also a mom of 6 kids, so I had to add “mom” to my name cause I hear it A LOT 😂

@kaye wants to know about our names. Mines not real original—my family has called me coco for years, short for Colleen (pronounced with the long o) and I read a lot. So...CocoReads.

Susanita That‘s adorable. 😀 5y

Started by @kaye, share the reasoning behind your handle for new Litten friends! Mine is also the name of my blog, and that was chosen because when I really like a book I tend to, well, freak out. 😁 It's especially bad (or good, I think) in person.

#LitsyHandle

My username is the one I use everywhere. It's from a book I loved and read to pieces as a kid, though I don't think much of it now. It's one of the names/titles of a character who is a bard. I learned later that it seems to be derived from the Irish word seanchai, meaning storyteller. It fits me less now than it did as I don't write much at all, but I did and there are some ghostwritten books out there I was responsible for...

Chelleo Very cool!!☺️ 6y

My name is Erin
My Litsy name is Weyrwoman. The first fantasy series I ever read and became obsessed with was the Dragonriders of Pern when I was in middle school. I ran an online fandom Weyr for several years and had even Emailed Anne McCaffrey herself to get approval. My fandom name was Weyrwoman Alora. Since this was a group about books, it was only fitting :) #LitsyHandle

Chelleo Cool story! How is it pronounced? Weer or Where? 6y

I chose for my #LitsyHandle @ElishaLovesBooks because my first name is Elisha and I love books! It‘s not super creative but I have a tendency to overthink things like handles and I didn‘t want to complicate it! So of course I asked @TracyReadsBooks to help me with it- she is my all-things-reading-related-guru! She was right, I feel like it fits me so well!

Chelleo It‘s perfect!! 6y

My real name is Melanie and my childhood friends and family call me Melli. As a teenager I wanted to start an online shop to sell my poorly self made things (I learned how to sew back then) And when I was looking for a shopname I came across Mellissimo as a shortform of Melli and Bellissimo - I love the italian language. Well, back then the online shop didn't work out and the name stayed as my handle whenever I need one

@Chelleo

A while back I decided to start a blog. When debating what to call it, I knew I wanted something Harry Potter related and Swish and Flick just felt right (the domain was also available, haha). But it turns out that all I wanted was a forum to talk books, so when I found Litsy my blog quickly fell by the wayside. I still own swishandflick.com though and I'm hoping to do something with it again one day! #litsyhandle

What a fun idea @Chelleo ❤️

Chelleo Cool name and URL. I caught the HP reference too! 6y
