Allylu I just started 2 Samuel yesterday as well as 1 Chronicles plus a psalm. There are so many stories I haven't remembered. Thank you for starting me on this journey. I read the Bible all the way through before, but getting the commentary from Father Mike from Ascension makes a difference. it's Day 121! 2y

quirkyreader @Allylu I like the way how super excited Father Mike gets when he reads. My good friend Melissa, who is now cloistered in her noviciate time, told me about Father Mike. He has a way of firing up people for God and Jesus. 2y

quirkyreader The book I‘m reading now, “Rooted” by Banning Leibscher, draws heavily upon David‘s journey, so there a many verses from Samuel aka Kingdoms 1 and 2 from Orthodox and Catholic Bibles. As well as the Psalms that are chronological to the time period.

BookBabe I was amazed by Saul‘s relentless pursuit of David, again and again, even after he said he wouldn‘t anymore…yet David consistently treated him with respect as the Lord‘s anointed, no matter how awful Saul was to him. I guess that‘s why David was a man after God‘s own heart! He walked in the spirit and not in the flesh. (With one notable exception, of course🤫) 2y

#LunchAndABook! It‘s a beautiful day, so I‘m sitting in the garden at my favorite cafe in the dappled sunlight, listening to jazz while I read, sipping a ginger turmeric iced tea and nibbling on a yummy ham & cheese sandwich with arugula and red pepper aioli. 😋 Cold brew iced coffee and shortbread for dessert.
