I needed something that was immersive and escapist. The first book in Maas‘s Crescent City Series certainly fit the bill (although my wrists hurt from holding it!) we meet Bryce Quinn, part Fae, and the enslaved Angel, Hunt Athalar, both of whom are hiding secrets as they investigate the murder of Bryce‘s friend (shape shifting) Danika.

I have the next in the series on hold. 💜

Picked up the Crescent City trilogy at a real good price from Target. Price matched for some super savings. Excited to have physical copies of this series.

Ok idk if it‘s just me but I cannot get into this book whatsoever. All of her other books I can get into but I just can‘t follow Bryce. I‘ve even tried to audiobook. How did you guys get into it. #crescentcity #sarahjmass #acotar

Loving it

This book was slow at first but picked up very quickly. I laughed, cursed, cried, and yelled but I definitely loved alot of the parts in this book. The world building and character development was wonderful. I truly enjoyed the adventure this book took me on. Now on to book 2.

I've been on an fantasy kick. I enjoyed it enough to purchase (and start reading) the sequel but I'm still suffering a book hangover from the Six of Crows duology. 4⭐️

I truly hate audible exclusive audiobooks of big titles but they offered me a trial and I need some sort of refresh if I‘m gonna understand anything by the time I get to the top of the library hold list for the sequel.

Here are my bookish plans for the weekend.

I've been starting and stopping 'Salem's Lot over the last few weeks but my copy of The Shining came in and I want to get to it so I need to get this book finished! I also want to get House of Earth and Blood refreshed before the next book comes out next week!

I won't finish all, but as long as I start I'll be happy 😊

So I‘ll be honest this was a bit of an uphill climb for the first half of this book. I was motivated to read it since I‘m currently home with COVID😷 I will say that it was a clever book with many unexpected twists and turns that made the second half easy to read through (took me two days!) I am gonna make this a pick because I did enjoy it outside some nitpicking that I have about the writing style.

I‘ve been in a bit of a reading slump. So much going on and no me time.. but just received a copy of this to re-read prior to the release of ‘House of sky and breath‘. Finally looking forward to reading again!

Finished up my reread today and it still is an amazing book! I cannot wait wait the next book to come out. Just a few weeks away!

OK, so here is my May wrapup. This month I DNF‘d two books and reread four. My top book of the month was House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas and I would have to say that my least favorite of the month was Dark Hunt by Kim Richardson, though that‘s not including the two DNF‘s.

This was unusual for Sarah J Maas because there was several deaths at the beginning. There is a lot of sexual talk that got uncomfortable and even a little morbid. There is likable characters and depth. The political situations lost me, the love story excited me, and the dealing with the trauma of loss seemed real. If you read this go slow and be attentive. I got lost because I read it in a busy time in my life.

Is it ridiculous that I pre-ordered this and haven‘t read it yet? But since I‘m on such a Maas kick I figured I would dive into this world next. 😏

Been reading a LOT of SJM - read House of Earth and Fire last month and the whole ACOTAR series this month (previously I had only read book 1). I've read Assassin's Blade before but think I will have to tackle the Throne of Glass series yet.
I ended up LOVING Crescent City book 1 and ACOMAF most, do you have a favorite?

I was weak • I couldn‘t hold it longer • the story was so enthralling I had to know ...

Sarah J. Maas is an auto-buy author for me. (I can hear Sara and Ashley snickering right now because I DO have a lot of auto-buy authors . . . but seriously, I've pre-ordered every Maas book since her first.) I had pre-ordered House of Earth and Blood as soon as I could, but I didn't pick it up to read it immediately. It's 800ish pages, and I wanted to be able to read without stress or tons of interruptions.⠀⬇️

WOW..this ended up being a way better read then I was expecting!! In true Maas style the main protagonist is female and there is a large cast of characters and very surprisingly there's a lack of things her other books are renown for 😉 cannot wait for the next instalment

I don‘t normally preorder books, but the little sample I read had me interested enough to do so! Love this cover also! Plus getting a book way after you paid for it, kind of feels like a present to yourself! 😂
Now to finish the many books I‘m currently reading so I can start this one!

FINALLY!!! It took the mail ALL DAY to get here when it‘s usually here before noon. Can‘t wait to start in on this after dinner tonight!! Been waiting months and months!

Let me just say: I do not consider myself a Maas fangirl. I burned right through ACOTAR (I definitely DO consider myself a Rhysand fangirl). I had a like-hate relationship with the Throne of Glass series.

BUT... I downloaded the first 5 chapters of this new book on NetGalley, read it, and immediately preordered the book.

Officially excited for March 3.
