The Unteachables | Gordon Korman

A hilarious new middle grade novel from beloved and bestselling author Gordan Korman about what happens when the worst class of kids in school is paired with the worst teacherperfect for fans of Ms. Bixbys Last Day. The Unteachables are a notorious class of misfits, delinquents, and academic train wrecks. Like Aldo, with anger management issues; Parker, who cant read; Kiana, who doesnt even belong in the classor any class; and Elaine (rhymes with pain). The Unteachables have been removed from the student body and isolated in room 117. Their teacher is Mr. Zachary Kermit, the most burned-out teacher in all of Greenwich. He was once a rising star, but his career was shattered by a cheating scandal that still haunts him. After years of phoning it in, he is finally one year away from early retirement. But the superintendent has his own plans to torpedo that ideaand it involves assigning Mr. Kermit to the Unteachables. The Unteachables never thought theyd find a teacher who had a worse attitude than they did. And Mr. Kermit never thought he would actually care about teaching again. Over the course of a school year, though, room 117 will experience mayhem, destructionand maybe even a shot at redemption.

Gordon Korman is pretty close to an auto buy author for my class library, and books with this kind of humor and heart are the reason why. This story includes a frustrated and burnt out teacher as well as a class of middle schoolers that for the most part nobody has tried to help.

I bought this and leant it out before getting a chance to read it, so I listened to the full cast audio and recommend it as well.

The way he wrote was more perspective of the character. What the author does is every chapter, the character POV that you are viewing changes. So when you are seeing the story through one person's eyes, it switched 5-10 pages later. I really like how he does it because it is easier to tell who is talking and what they are viewing. It is also a good format because it tells what the other characters are going through in life.

The unteachables is a great book about this class that is un-teachable and all of them have there own problems like reading problems, anger issues, and being sleepy all day. There new teacher mr. kermit, is not even teaching the class! It looks like a disaster! But a couple months in they start to get one another, becoming friends, and learning!
I'm not done it yet but am loving it to the max! For me, i recommend to any one that likes a ok read!

Cfischbuch Great choice, and a great write up. Nicely done. Funny too. 3y
CookSethPlz I loved this book! Gordan Korman, (the author of this book is great! I love how he tells his story‘s in a way were there is a different character every character, I find that when he does this it makes the book easier to read because you are always hearing it in different perspectives. Great choice link! (edited) 3y

This is the story of what happens when a burnt out teacher is saddled with the worst class (actually the best )class in school. It's amazing how much kids can learn with the right teacher.

I am a sucker for underdog stories and this book has many! The climax was not the part of the story I expected, which threw me for a bit, but it ended up working much better this way. Lots of ridiculous situations make this story an over-the-top ride with an oh so satisfying ending. Fun! 🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗

As a middle school teacher I really appreciate the fact that a great author like Gordon Korman went out of his way to write about a burnt out teacher handling a class of wild and crazy kids. Thank you for the dedication Mr. Korman! #middlegradebooks #readingteacher #teacherlife

Right now I am reading the book the unteachable's by Gordon Korman. I am on page 205 and there are 279 pages in total. This book is about a group of kids who the teachers gave up on and now are in a class called SCS-8, also known as the Unteachable's. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a book that is funny and interesting, this book keeps you wanting to read. I am really enjoying this book.

MissYaremcio Great review! Your pacing was a little unclear but great work! 4y

Sweet middle grade novel. But, I would rather read Schooled, a Korman book where the characters are a little more fleshed out and the plot is better developed.

Middle grade book about a burnt out teacher and a class of misfits. Some of the characters were more developed and more like able than others. As a teacher, there were some very relatable moments. Overall this was a cute little story about redemption and finding the people you need at the right time.
