Murder by the Book is the first in the series, Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery. Addie Greyborne moved to Greyborne Harbor for a fresh start. Her aunt, whom she didn‘t know, lived in a beautiful mansion with an amazing collection of first edition books and antiques. Her aunt recently died and left everything to Addie. She decided to use the collectibles as inventory to start her own book store.

After 5 days of intense 90++ heat & occasional brief thunderstorms, tonight‘s 70 temp with a cool breeze, is so so welcome!!! The lights make the space feel magical. I am so happy, so peaceful listening to the crickets chorus. 💚🧡💜 Sharing & sending that peaceful feeling, that swell of joy,to all Littens on this night.
I can see why some people dig this book and series, but I found the characters repetitive and unrelatable. The story itself is unbelievable which doesn't usually bother me, but I couldn't jump on board this time. If you do pick this one up, I'd try to read it in one sitting or two. I'm annoyed I spent a week dragging it along!
I bought this book for the cover. . . Going to see how much of it I can gobble up before my day-cation is over ☕📚🌅
Oooof. I really didn't like this Cozy. I wasn't sympathetic to the main character at all (just because someone has experienced a lot of loss-ridiculously so, does not immediately endear a reader to that character.) What I love about Cozies is the world building-feeling part of the towns and the community. Very very few people had any good qualities. Super one dimensional tropes. And I could care less about the setting and community. Painful read.
I have a chunk of Cozies on my Kindle that I have bought or downloaded the last several months, so I am going to clear some of those out. Hopefully. 🤣 Starting with this new-to-me series.
Needed some comfort today after the British election results, so went down to the library...
The plot of this was excellent - twisty and complex but not so convoluted it made no sense - but the characters were problematic at best. I'm going to read the second book to see if that's just a first book in a series issue.

Finally finished this POS. The main character is a thoroughly unlikeable busybody. The people who live in her town are just mean, nasty people, except the sheriff, and he needs to run far away from her. #goteam

Walking = 2.04 miles
Eating = lots of vegetables; good amount of protein.
I hate this book and its characters; I don‘t know why I continue to listen — I wished the main character dead at one point. Today was a better fitness day.

Omg! Addie, the mc, is just awful! I hate her whiny, entitled brat self! When her friend (of two days) is arrested for murder, Addie pitches a fit until the sheriff allows her to help investigate. This line is almost verbatim: “I know she‘s your sister, but she‘s my FRIEND!” Because, you know the man can‘t possibly care more about his sister than a stranger can. UGH!

What do these two books have in common besides the fact that they‘re cozy mysteries? The fact that I find their main characters extremely annoying, but I can‘t tell if it‘s because of the narrators or if the characters are genuinely irritating. I didn‘t finish either and wonder if I should bother.
Perhaps it was my copy of the ebook from the library, but chapter 2 jumped straight into some things that weren‘t introduced in chapter 1 so I had a hard time following.
I came in assuming this was a new cozy series, but it read more like a romance/mystery with too much crammed in. Overall, I probably will not continue with this series.
Addie moves into a small New England town where she opens a bookstore. She get a new best friend Serena. Serena's brother is the sheriff and helps Addie when a fellow business man is murdered. This is a great new series Beyond the Page Bookstore and I look forward to reading more of these.
