Another bookclub book for august. I gotta catch up. Any thoughts on this one?
I really wanted to like this book. I was incredibly excited, it seemed like something that was right up my alley, just for it to end in a very Gone Girl way. The “twist” was very predictable from very early on. The author had a terrible habit of repeating herself way too much. There were several phrases that were used so often, I almost quit the book. #thedaybefore #withmyhandsonmyhips
I didn‘t not like this book. I didn‘t like that it was written backwards. It did not keep my attention enough to remember details that were important in the end. The ending was better than the overall book and did surprise me some but the book just didn‘t work for me.
This fast-paced mystery is told backwards. Each chapter is the day before the last one. From the time the 2nd girl went missing, the unreliable narrator works to unravel the truth. I flew through the chapters, wanting to know how things happened. There‘re good twists and some parts I enjoyed but telling a mystery in reverse order, though is intriguing, is rather confusing for me and there were loose ends not mentioned. Didn‘t really work for me.
Thank you for the chance to win Lock Every Door, @kellyann28 ! A book I recently finished that I really enjoyed was All the Missing Girls. It was full of secrets and unexpected twists that kept me guessing. I also enjoyed the fact that most of the timeline was told in reverse.
When I am on a long flight, it is essential to have a page turner to keep my mind occupied. It doesn‘t matter what genre, as long as the story is compelling. Here are a few that I know I read on a plane. I love to look for a new book at the airport bookstore, even though I‘ve most likely already packed 3 or 4 books! #airplane #LetsTravelJuly
I got engaged!!
I finally finished! (I haven‘t had a lot of time to read this week.) Two missing girls, a family broken by secrets and dementia, and a town‘s silence make for a great story. The timeline goes backwards over a two-week timeline for most of the book, and secrets are revealed along the way. This was my first MM book, but it won‘t be my last!
Enjoying my vacation. I am in Maine today! So this is our last state and then back to NY and then back home on Saturday.
I am enjoying All the Missing Girls, i am at that point where the story is starting to make sense with how the author has constructed. I have about 25 maybe 35 pages left. I shoukd finish it up today!
I have done well this week to keep my goal of 15k steps!
Hanging out in NYC on my first day of vacation
Went to see the statue of liberty and walked through central park, walked around Columbia University amd saw a beautiful chapel with an art exhibit called Sanctuary that discussed immigration through US history.
Overall good day
Lots of walking:8.20 miles
Miles walked and ran (i got in two runs this week!)
Books read: None, started a new book half way through.
I am leaving for New England tomorrow so my week maybe a little weak in terms of walking cause of the change in routine.

This has been a werid reading week for me. I am a little thrown after having to return A Fatal Grace to the library and buy it myself.
But i started this today first 34 pages read.. Interesting so far.

Got a 0.70 mile run in this morning and walked a total of 9.06 miles today. Not a bad day.
Nicolette didn‘t want to #MoveAlongHome to Cooley Ridge to clean out the affairs of her father who has Alzheimer‘s, but she does, and what unfolds in Megan Miranda‘s reverse chronological narrative is a favorite suspense book.
Honestly, I had to include this episode. It is one of the worst Star Trek episodes. I think the writers weren‘t sure how to introduce aliens from the Gamma Quadrant and missed the mark with this one. #StarTrekSummerJune
I thought this was a really good read, lots of twists and a great ending.
I think Megan Miranda is a very good writer and she made the main characters very likeable. Will definitely be reading more by her 😊
#BookHaul Salvation Army $1.50!!!
Who hasn‘t read these?!
I‘ve read the first two and didn‘t care for 13 Reasons Why...
I did really enjoy Megan Miranda‘s writing style despite not caring for the narrative style.
You can see my full review here:
I had hoped to have this book finished by now but quiet reading time has been very limited lately. I have to say that I enjoyed the first half of this book so much and I thought I would breeze through it but it‘s really just dragging now. I love Miranda‘s writing style and I do hope the ending will redeem the book.
Hoping to finish and have a review up before Wednesday comes to an end.
I am currently reading All the Missing Girls and so far, I am really liking it. It‘s about a girl who goes missing and ten years later, circumstances/the kidnapper/a killer says #thankyounext and another girl disappears.

1. Travel plans
2. Worked in the Men‘s Dept at Sears
3. My Own Words by RBG, but I hope to get back to it someday.
4. I have to recommend Megan Miranda since she is both a friend and neighbor. Tagged one of her books.
5. @TrishB @AmyG and @kaye
The USP of this book is its reverse-chronological timeline. Unfortunately that didn‘t work for me. I was constantly reading parts and wondering if I‘d missed something in the chapter, only to realise the details of that particular thread wouldn‘t be revealed until the next chapter. Confused? So was I. The story itself was rather mediocre but on a positive note, the cover is lovely.
So...dang this was good!!! I read in one sitting this afternoon. You‘re killin me Megan Miranda🤪🤓😎
Great suspense — I recommend ❣️❣️
📚Happy Tuesday Reading 📚
What are you reading today?
I‘m finishing The Sky Below by Scott Parazynski, then onto the tagged
Finished this one up today and really liked it! Wasn‘t sure at first how I would feel about the reverse storyline...but it made the story.
This one was okay.
Pretty predictable - girl goes missing... same kind of story we‘ve heard before.
It‘s all told in reverse. So we know how it‘s all going to end before finishing the first chapter.
The writing was fantastic, and I definitely appreciated the characters in this book. However, there are definitely more engaging thriller/mysteries in my opinion.
Planning on starting this one today. Little leery about the storyline being told in reverse, but what the heck. I‘ll give it a go 😂🤷🏼♀️
