A Peaceful Retirement

So… not book related but today is my 3rd day of retirement. After 27 years, I had my opportunity to retire and I took it. I look forward to the next chapter and more time to read!

A Peaceful Retirement | Miss Read

I had retired from my 2-year temp job helping to run elections. Yippee, summer! 3 weeks later an employee called & asked if I would PLEASE return for the summer primary election & possibly through the November elections. Staff were leaving her to do it alone in the largest city in Vermont. I said yes. 😳 My reading will go downhill. 😩

This is a photo of kids picking cucumbers. In my teen years I laid on one of these for three summers, picking.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who has wished me well on my upcoming retirement. I am so ready and grateful that my husband and I can live on his one income for the next few years. 2020 and online learning broke me. After 25 years in the classroom I just couldn't do it anymore. I'm a wimp 😂

AlaMich I totally get it! I am a paraprofessional in an elementary school and my wife is a first grade teacher in the same district. Our district has been so disorganized in its handling of the roll-out of our hybrid plan that morale is very low, staff is completely exhausted and stressed out...I‘m not gonna lie, it‘s chaos. 5y

MoonWitch94 No you‘re not! I left education 18 months ago, and I gotta say that if I was still in it, I WOULD LEAVE now. You have to know when you‘re done. I give you all the credit in the world for knowing that. 💜💕💜 5y

AlaMich @Sace I‘m in Illinois. Our infection rate has been climbing very slowly for awhile, but I think it‘s only a matter of time before the governor takes us back to phase 3. 5y

Sace @AlaMich ooops! Not in the same state. I'm I'm AL. Our governor just extended the masked man date to October 2nd. But it doesn't matter because football is still on. Even with masks I think that's a recipe for disaster. 5y

Bette Happy retirement! I retired from the library just before the pandemic hit...and was relieved I didn‘t have to decide if I wanted to work behind plexiglass or not. It‘s a scary time. 5y

Sace @Bette I confess this was a rather quick decision. I really wanted to be able to keep going but I realized that education is going to be a completely different animal going forward and I am not up for the challenge. 5y
