Horror film monsters are real. Good thing Harry knows how to get rid of them. But as always, things have to get worse first, before they can get better-ish.

My project is finished! Well, almost. I have to get it in the frame. Still have a couple hours to go on the audiobook and need to decide what to make next… Believe it or not, I do leave this couch and am not always covered in cats (unfortunately). #huey #lennox #catsoflitsy

🎧 Book 8 of the Dresden Files!

Harry‘s a Warden & the Red Court/White Counsel war is still raging!

Faeries

Monster movie monsters are on the loose! Demons. The never never. Merlin.

Apprentice Molly, Michael & Mouse the dog. Again this is a comfort read.

“I take it that you‘re sexually active. Come on Molly, this is important. Do you boink?”

Hearing Marsters say that in Harry‘s voice cracked me up! Best interaction of the book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It‘s been 3 years since I read my last Harry Dresden book, oops! Needless to say, I was a little confused when I first started this book. I didn‘t remember everything that previously happened. However, after a bit I was able to get into the story. Another great Harry Dresden book. I had so much fun being back in this world.

I‘ll have to make sure I don‘t wait another 3 years to read the next one! 😂

Harry is running around crazy as ever. This book added elements that I know are going to pay off in later books. Lots of mystery definitely makes me want to pick up the next book. 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

Great Dresden book, and things are getting more and more complicated for Harry. This novel starts with horror movie creatures coming to life and attacking people and Michael‘s daughter Molly is involved. Fast forward, and Harry leads a charge into Winter. Harry‘s relationship matured and evolved with Thomas, and Harry himself has matured, taking on an apprentice at the end of the book.

1. Jim Butcher‘s PROVEN GUILTY pissed me off by sexualizing a teen girl for Harry Dresden to fantasize about. I abandoned the series because of this book.
2. Ummmm... I got nothing here.
3. Bacon
4. Eastern U.S.
5. Yellow Shadow (from THE BECKONING SHADOW by Katharyn Blair)

I can‘t remember a book that ever managed to piss me off so much at the end. This whole series has misogyny issues. I‘ve given it a pass up to this point, because it‘s an older series, but even by 2007 standards, there‘s no excuse for sexualizing a 17-year-old girl for the much older main character to leer at. Basically, I‘m finished with the series. My full rant is on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2426864682? #urbanfantasy

Craftylikefox Oh no! I was thinking about starting the series, BUT I will be passing on it now 6y
BillBlume @Craftylikefox it really kills me to quit this series, because as audiobooks, James Marsters does an amazing job reading them. Only reason I panned this one was because it turned me off enough not to continue reading the series. 6y
Vexingcircumstance I keep trying to start the series and haven‘t gotten past a few pages. I liked the short lived TV show 6y
See All 7 Comments
Vexingcircumstance If you want a similar series with a male main character and writer try Simon Green‘s Nightside series. Best I can recall, they‘re not sexist at all and the main character, once given a female love interest, is super super respectful of her. (edited) 6y
BillBlume @Vexingcircumstance I‘ll give that a look. Thanks! 6y
Vexingcircumstance @BillBlume it‘s been a while since I finished that series, so I can‘t remember every detail and can‘t guarantee it‘s 100% sexist remark free but I‘d remember if there was anything super creepy and I remember the relationship story clearly and it was impressive (to me) in the way it was handled. 6y
Vexingcircumstance They‘re also fun and funny books. I honestly rarely can get into books with male protagonists and those were rare exceptions (other exceptions were mostly Neil Gaiman books). 6y

#audiocleaning Also, I have been trying out Libby for a week or so. It‘s okay.

GIVEAWAY: Please check out my previous post for a chance to win the first 2 volumes of Saga if you haven‘t already. 🙂
To quote my mom: “It‘d be nice to win something.”

Ashley_Nicoletto I like Libby the most for audiobooks. It's nice to be able to search what's available and then listen right from the same app. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But for reading a book I don't love it. 6y
Bookzombie @Ashley_Nicoletto Audiobooks is what I use it for. I think my biggest issue is that I can‘t see my library wishlist on it like I can on the regular Overdrive app. I have to go to the computer to pick from my wishlist (or go to the other app). It‘s not that big a deal. 🙂 Also, it sometimes tries to sync to another time even though I only use the app on my phone. (edited) 6y
MarriedtoMrT @Bookzombie I had the syncing thing, too. Or it would jump forward in time randomly. I started downloading instead of streaming and it seemed to fix. Not sure if yours are downloaded already, though. And I did like to stream to save storage so I hope they fix the glitch. 6y

TricksyTails I have been wanting to start this series but it keeps getting further buried in my TBR pile. Maybe I'll do an audiobook too. How are you enjoying it? I'm also not thrilled with Libby for audiobooks. I prefer OverDrive. 6y
Bookzombie @TricksyTails I like this series. Some books are better than others but I like Harry and a lot of the regular characters. I think James Marsters does a great job with the narration. I read the first one in print but the rest I have done in audio. I still use OverDrive to select my audio books but then listen on Libby. I‘m getting used to it, I guess. 6y
Bookzombie @TricksyTails Just a note: The series should be read in order as there is a lot building from book to book with characters and the stuff going on in the supernatural world. 🙂 6y
TricksyTails I definitely want to try the first book in print and then try some on audio. Thank you for the tip to read the series in order! 😊 It's been a bit since I've played with Libby but I think I chose OverDrive for audio because you could download and listen for when there's no WiFi and Libby was only streaming. 6y
Bookzombie @TricksyTails Libby must have changed that because it lets me download. I have it set not to use cellular data and was out and about listening yesterday. Lol, I had to double check that just now. 🙂 6y
TricksyTails @Bookzombie Hahaha my older phone has gone wonky since updating so now nothing works right! I probably won't get Libby to function properly until I get a new phone. 😆 Good to know that once my phone works, I can use one app instead of jumping between Libby and OverDrive. Thanks! 6y

Another excellent entry in The Dresden Files. Newly appointed Warden Harry is told to be on the lookout for black magic in Chicago, and to find out why Winter and Summer aren't pissed the Red Court Vamps are going through their territory. Also the daughter of an old friend comes to Harry for help. Even when I think I know how Butcher will pull things together he has a little surprise for me. Really enjoying this series!

I always enjoy a good romp with Harry Dresden and would recommend this whole series without hesitation. That said, this was not my favorite Dresden Files book. As a rule, the Faerie and Knight-based ones fall a bit flat for me. Still a fun read and worth the handful of hours it takes to get through.

Is there a way to manually add a book that isn't in the Litsy book database? I haven't been able to tag a handful of books because they're not showing up! My taste in books isn't that weird (not usually, anyway) 😉

MissAlyssHearts I did it once. If you press the search button and type in the title you should be able to add one. 7y
