1. I don‘t withdraw from reading, but I do get into slumps sometimes. If I think it‘s more than a momentary funk, I might reread a mystery where I already know the answer to jump start my reading.
2. JRR Tolkien, Peter May, Jeff Shaara
3. Sue Grafton, Louise Penny, Laura Lippman
(Did you really think I‘d choose just one?)

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

Kinsey investigates the disappearance of a woman that occurred 35 years ago. On July 4th 1953, Violet Sullivan leaves her 7 year old daughter with the babysitter to meet her husband to watch fireworks. Violet is never seen again. Over the years, there has been speculation she ran off with someone or that she was murdered by her husband who was abusive and drank excessively.

I thought this was one of the better ones - the characters were more developed and I liked the past and present narration. I‘m almost done with the series - only 6 more!

Continuing through the Kinsey Millhone series. The tagged book is my favorite of the four. In that book, Grafton departs from her usual format - toggling between perspectives of various characters in 1953 and the current timeline in 1987. She carries on similarly in T is for Trespass, this time toggling between Kinsey‘s perspective and that of the villain, making it one of the more frightening and anxiety inducing of Grafton‘s books.

The_Book_Ninja R.I.P. I don‘t know much about Sue Grafton or these Alphabet novels. Did she make it to “Z”? 2y
Blueberry @The_Book_Ninja the last book she wrote was Y is for Yesterday. She died before beginning Z. 2y

I‘m feeling like the world‘s slowest reader at the mo. I think that‘s the first book I‘ve finished this month, though I have a couple more on the go. Enjoyed being back with Kinsey. I read the first chunk of the alphabet in the 1990s and have tried to get back to them several times since. I think I might finally be feeling nostalgic enough to keep going. I would have liked a bit more explanation at the end but enjoyed the read.

Getting in early with my #bookspin bingo list for March. It‘s the same list as Feb but with the ones I‘ve read replaced by new ones. (And the one I can‘t actually locate in the house at the moment has been swapped out too. It was my #doublespin for Feb but has gone AWOL.)

There are a few books in the series in which Kinsey wanders a bit far afield from #California for a chunk of time, but this one is set firmly in the Golden State. She does, however, get away from her hometown of Santa Teresa. This one is especially poignant because it has to do with a missing person cold case and a daughter who‘s lived with the lack of “closure” for many years. #50states

You honestly can never go wrong with a book from this series. Finished this whole thing in a day (being on a flight for half the day certainly helped!)

BookaholicNatty I have been keeping my eyes out for the first one that‘s starts with and A! I want to read the entire series but I‘m one of those crazy people who has to start at the beginning!!!! 6y
emilycoc @BookaholicNatty Highly recommend - this is one of my favourite series! I had to start at A too when I first got into it. :) 6y

This is a complete guilty pleasure mystery series for me. I always know what to expect with Kinsey when I need a pallet cleanser after a heavy classic or something.

With the first self identified LGBTQ+ character and a mention of a LGBTQ+ relationship, and a change of narrative viewpoint in places, this has to be the best book in the series so far.

Tnere are only 5 published books left and I don't know what I am going to do with myself when I actually have to wait for Y to be published. It seems so odd to me to have to wait for a book in a series that started before I was born.

jessdean Went thru most of those books awhile back. "X" is on my kindle but haven't read it yet. Kinsey is a fun character to follow;) 8y
AliceInWonderLibrary @jessdean Agreed, I am going to miss her when she is gone. 8y
