I decided to read this one for #booked2019 so I borrowed the copy on the left from @emilyhaldi . Unfortunately, she bought it used. Not usually an issue, but in this case it REEKS of cigarette smoke. Luckily I found the copy on the right at @Mdargusch ‘s today so I no longer have to fight the good fight.

I‘m conflicted now though. It‘s not often that I consider throwing out a book but I would feel bad donating this. 😣🤔

Leftcoastzen Someone online said to wrap book in a towel put baking soda and /or old fashioned clay cat litter with the wrapped book in a plastic bag , said it works in a few days.who knows. 5y

LOVING this gem, my first read by Taylor. Unfortunately, I bought a used copy online, and it reeks SO strongly of cigarette smoke that I have to hold it at arms length while I read 🤢 Has anyone else ever run into this issue??

Texreader When she died, her kids (husband included) ditched my mother-in-law‘s whole library because it reeked so of cigarette smoke. Heartbreaking for a huge family of book lovers. 5y

I really enjoy the everyday life that Elizabeth Taylor portrays in her books. She takes many characters and many subplots and gives all of them important parts in her books. This retelling of a sleeping beauty whose life is reawakened, is a sweet love story with a scandal and dark secrets behind it.
