So much better than Beauty - The only adjective that comes to mind is cinematic. The visualization from the writing is EPIC!!! #FairytaleReadingChallenge @Charityann
I have a few Beauty & the Beast variations on my TBR and really wanted to read at least one for February's #fairytalereadingchallenge @Charityann I settled on Rose Daughter as it is one I've been meaning to reread. I read it back in the day, probably high school, but not since, and only remember thinking that I preferred McKinley's other B&B retelling, Beauty, better. All in all, I still definitely like Beauty better. This one has a lot of

Book 3 done for #24in48 & #24B4Monday I liked it but I didn‘t love it. It was a tad slow in the middle and not that original a take on the Beauty and the Beast tale. I have read many variations of this tale and this is not my favorite. It is a well done audiobook and I do like McKinley‘s writing and I will read more of hers. @24in48 @TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65
Over 12 hours in and going to call it a night in a bit. Here is book stack for tomorrow. Over half way through Rose Daughter on audio and I‘ve started Lore. Wise Man‘s Fear I‘m listening to with my husband, we may do a chunk tomorrow. The rest I hope to at least start! See you all tomorrow! #24in48 #24B4Monday @24in48 @TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65
Here is my bookshelfie with a pup photo bomb. Really enjoying this audiobook! #24in48 #24B4Monday

Almost 2 hours in of listening to Rose Daughter, which is lovely. Switching over to the cute period romance with pirates! #24in48 #24B4Monday
And it begins with an audiobook while I eat breakfast and do some cleaning. #24in48 #24B4Monday

Ok, I'm done (for now?). I just had to put this one back on the shelf.... I finally got into it (!), and then it got slow again.... and I mean super slow. I'm not finding much interesting, I can read maybe a page or two before falling asleep, and have seriously been considering adding it to my dnf pile... which is super small. Anyone read this that can provide me with any solid reason to finish it? I'm 65% off the way through it....
Miss Rosie almost never snuggles with me! Trying to get into Rose Daughter while hubbs has the guys over for game night. 🤓🐈😁

This is one of the books I ~inherited from her and I‘m vv thankful to her for introducing me to more books, more book aesthetics, and the fun world of bookstagramming!
I love it when books on my TBR list are on sale! 😊
While I never tire of various retellings of Beauty and the Beast, this one did leave me wanting a bit more. Overall it was well done but I just wasn't as satisfied as I expected to be. There were times where I found that paragraphs were verbally muddied and a bit hard to slog through. Better pacing than Beauty by the same author. But I just wanted a bit more.
I finished Rose Daughter before I went to bed last night and I've been trying to think of how to describe it since. It's the author's second retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I read the first retelling, Beauty, years ago and loved it. The whole book has a dream like quality to it, especially the last 100 pages. Parts of the book are heartwarming, and parts of it are disorienting and uncomfortable.
"Rose are for love...the love that makes you and keeps you whole, love that gets you through the worst your life'll give you and that pours out of you when you're given the best instead."
11 hours, 17 minutes-just finished Spindle's End, now on to Rose Daughter (along with supper-kids like to eat a few times a day for some reason...) Krypto isn't sure what to think of all this reading. @24in48
One of the first of McKinley's books I picked up, and likely my favorite Beauty and the Beast novel.
Stayed up WAY too late reading Rose Daughter last night...today may not be the best day to try my chicory non-coffee....why exactly did I think I needed to cut back on caffeine anyway?
Another ebook on sale. I've not read this one but I have read some of McKinley's other books and enjoyed them. Plus, it's a fairytale retelling. I know there are a lot of fans of retellings out there! Happy Saturday!
Robin McKinley's dark reimagining of Sleeping Beauty. Ebook is on sale in the U.S. for $1.99 today! #nycc #nerdreads
I thoroughly enjoyed this one, though I must say I liked her first Beauty and the Beast retelling better! This one did serve to make me wish I had a green thumb, though... 🌹 #taleasoldastime #beautyandthebeast
