How did Fox Mulder become a believer?Read this dark thriller to find out why millions of people became obsessed with The X-Files. In the spring of 1979, seventeen-year-old Fox Mulder has bigger problems than applying for college. Five years ago, his younger sister disappeared from their home and was never heard from again. Mulder blames himself, and his mother blames his father, who has retreated into his top-secret work for the State Department. In Fox s senior year, his dad has moved him to Washington, DC away from his friends on Martha s Vineyard. While Mulder doesn t mind the fresh start and not being known as that kid with the missing sister, he s still obsessed with finding Samantha. So when a local boy turns up dead and another child is abducted, Mulder can t stop himself from getting involved. Could there be a link to his sister s case? As he uncovers the truth, Mulder and his friends find themselves on the trail of a serial killer. Sucked into a world where conspiracies, the occult, and madness overlap, Fox Mulder starts to believe. An Imprint Book "

The X-Files is my favorite show of all time, so this was right in my wheelhouse. It was a load of fun to read about Mulder as a kid and to learn more about Cigarette Smoking Man. I‘m not sure if this is the type of book only hard-core fans can appreciate, but I had a blast with it!

RamsFan1963 I have both the Mulder and the Scully origin books on my TBR shelves 3y
Angitron @RamsFan1963 That‘s awesome! After having read this, I‘m excited to read the Scully one! 3y

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.

I saw this book at the library and immediately checked it out. I watched the X-Files series and loved it. I recognized the author‘s name so I wa pretty sure I would enjoy this.

This was a really good mystery/thriller. And there was some conspiracies thrown in for fans of the series. My only complaint was it didn‘t feel like Mulder‘s voice to me. I kept forgetting this was an X-Files prequel. I enjoyed reading this.

Not the tagged book.

This is a collection of short stories, narrated by a full cast. The stories are mediocre, as is the narration. If you're a mega fan of the show, you may enjoy this one more than I did. I just didn't really care for any of the stories (The flukeman one was the best of the bunch, but even that one was not particularly inspired). Glad this was free. 👽

kuhkuhbird Oh man! I had such hope when I saw this Audible original. I'm bummed. 5y
Traci1 @kuhkuhbird you may like it far more than I did. Honestly, I think I am not a big enough fan to appreciate the stories. None of them were familiar to me (though I think they were all maybe part of the show in some way), and some of the secondary characters that I think were meant to be nostalgic I didn't remember at all. 5y

This was a fantastic book! I love Fox Mulder and I really, really enjoyed reading how he developed an interest in behavioral science and join the FBI and how he decided to go to Oxford. A slightly slow start, but I was soon hooked!

If you‘re an X-Files fan and like YA, you‘ll dig this story of Mulder as a teen. Fast-paced & well-written, it will leave you craving more X-Files origin stories.

This isn't in the #Litsy database yet but I preordered this on audible because it's read by the cast and I think it will be so fun to listen to this while making the long drive from New Orleans to Las Vegas next week!

I will admit I read this book because Kami Garcia wrote it. Although I'm still waiting for the third Legion book. It was your typical thriller. I still think she should have wrote the third Legion book first.

I flew through this one! This was definitely a story more interesting to me. I liked the pace and it was a bit more to the point. It ties in with Dana's book, and takes place before her. I read them backwards but it doesn't actually matter to the stories. After reading these, I want to go watch some x-files 😊

A definite read for any X-Files fan. It was a quick, entertaining read. I especially liked how at the end she used the name of real FBI agents during that time (the guys who started the BSU). It added that feel of legitimacy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

All the mysteries, conspiracy theories and quirky characters of the X Files with a fun YA twist! Fox Mulder as a teen crime solver driven by the kidnapping of his sister Samantha, and how that set the stage for his FBI career. X Files fans will get a kick out of his origin story!

alisonrose I heard about both of these books on a BookRiot podcast (I think) earlier this year, and they sound so fun! 7y
RachaelViolet Would you recommend for tween readers? (12 years old) 7y
Vexingcircumstance I was such a giant xphile back in the day that the new stuff scares me. I haven't read the new books or watched the new series. 7y
Sara_Planz @RachaelViolet I think you would be okay with these depending on the 12 year old. It deals with a ritualistic serial killer so that can be a bit dark, although it's not super graphic. A couple relatively tame kissing scenes but nothing more than that. 7y
Sara_Planz @Vexingcircumstance I know how you feel. I was the same. I loved the new series and the books definitely keep to the feel and core of the original series. 7y

My son is being medically retired from the Navy in ten days for Crohn's Disease that reared its ugly head about a year ago. We are so excited he is coming home to civilian life. He started shipping things home and in the first box were signed copies of the new X Files Origins Books and Swag that he had signed for me at Mysterious Galaxy Book Store in San Diego. Sweetest kid ever!!!!

Another late read to finish the series. I enjoyed Mulder's story more than Scully's, it just felt like more of an origin story than hers. You knew right away where he was heading after the book was over and the next time you'd see him would be in the television series. There were also some awesome cameos in this book. A good read for an x-files fan. #agentofchaos #thexfilesorigins #Iwanttobelieve

Tried to put a library book on hold today, and it denied my card. So, of course I had to rush to the library immediately to resolve the problem (computer glitch!). I left with these and three more on hold. As if I didn't already have too many books on my TBR.

Suzze Read The Animators! I so loved it. 7y

The cover for this book was beautiful, but I especially loved how cool the endpapers were. The book itself is not something that will blow you away, but it is a fun read for any X-Files fan! As much as I was unsure about it before I really enjoyed reading Mulders origin story.

I liked this. Didn't love it. I really really really want a book about Phoebe now.

I appreciated the nods towards the tv series, and the use of the names of actual FBI profilers, it was a nice touch.

I'll be honest, I originally wasn't going to read this one, only the Scully book, but the completist in me kicked in and I changed my mind. 🙃I certainly don't regret it.

erinreads I still have the Scully one to read! I wasn't wowed by Agent of Change, but I love The X-Files so much that I did really enjoy reading about teenage Mulder. 💕 7y
mischa @erinreads I'm trying to decide whether to read the Scully one next or hold off and read something else. Decisions are hard! 7y

This one was a lot better than the Dana Scully story, and they connected the two stories together, which was even more exciting! The characters were much better developed and Mulder's side kicks were interesting. There's no great resolution at the end - it's very unsettling, like any good X-Files episode is. Yes. This was everything that I wanted from the other book and didn't get. 👽👽👽

I ate this up!! Start to finish today. I found this origin story of Fox Mulder to be satisfying in every way. Kami Garcia wrote great, quirky characters, conspiracy theory, alien references, 1979 pop culture and a pot-boiler mystery. I wish it was just a bit creepier, but really, I couldn't put it down. I will look forward to picking up Scully's origin story by Jonathan Maberry in the near future!

StephBengtson Yay!! That's one my TBR. Can't wait to read it. 7y
